Apologies for a lust list on a Wednesday (gasp!) but I think we can all deal.  It is so flipping cold and there is snow everywhere so let’s put some things on here to get us excited for spring.  Take me back to Florida please.

Splurge vs. Steal – Black Leather Jacket

9 Oct

By Whitney

I love a leather jacket.  My friend/PP Superfan Abby asked for some leather jacket advice and here are my thoughts:  if you see one you love that is amazing and classic (i.e. drapey, waterfall, gorge color) you should buy it.  However, if there is something about it that seems a bit trendy, find one for less.  That’s how I feel about this amazing VEDA jacket.  I love the statement collar but will I really wear this one year in and year out?  I’m not sure so I am finding one for less.  Cusp has their own line these days that is stellar.  I love their faux leather jacket (also lined so it will actually be warm) and I really think this one is well worth the price.  I love how cute it would be over a fun dress on a Saturday night or simply paired with a t shirt and jeans.

Splurge vs. Steal Leather Jacket

Splurge:  Veda Max Classic Jacket – $895

Steal:  Cusp by Neiman Marcus Faux Leather Jacket – $128

Tuesday Lust List

Oh hello Tuesday, you are just so borzo (that would be boring but Real Housewives of Melbourne version.  Get involved).  I had such a fun weekend celebrating my sister’s bday at the beach so this week was guaranteed to be a let down.  What’s perking me up?  The below items.  I am really wanting to spruce up my fall wardrobe but I’m holding back a few weeks more because I did some serious damage this September.   Ugh. Shopping.

Fall Flats

4 Aug

By Whitney

It was a crazy week last week so I’m so sorry for putting PP on the back burner.  We are back this week everyone and oh, are we ready.    It’s crazy that it’s 90 degrees out and fall is already starting but there are some things to focus on to take you between seasons, a good flat being one of them.  My fav part about spring and fall are being able to wear skinnies with flats and not be freezing/sweating.  You can never have too many pairs of flats (as long as they are unique!).

Fall Flats

Top Row:  Loeffler Randall Gray Karlotta Flat (love the black accents) – $250 // Chloe Scalloped Flat in navy suede (thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for getting me these flats as they really are the most comfortable / gorgeous flats in the world – $495 // See by Chloe Studded Leather Flat (also love it in gray) – $180

Bottom Row:  JCrew Factory Emery Flat in Navy (love this navy) – $78 // Mint & Rose Amalfi Espadrille in rose gold (perfect for an Indian summer) – $125 // JCrew Harper Scalloped Flat (THIS PINK but also the cobalt) – $128

Tuesday Lust List – Wear Now and Later

29 Jul

By Whitney

While I am trying to be good and keep my spending to a minimum for the next few months, that doesn’t mean I am not still looking.  The key to buying pieces right now are making sure they are ones you can wear now and continue to keep wearing into fall.  Neutrals are an easy way to do this but there are more to neutrals than just tans and whites.  Think gray, think navy…all of the below can be mixed and matched with your current summer pieces (white skinnies anyone?) or easily paired with your fall denim.

Tuesday Lust List - Now and Later

JCrew Heart Dot Shorts – $60 // Soludos Striped Smoking Espadrille – $55   // Baublebar Raw Geode Collar  – $44 // JCrew Mixed Media  Sweater – $98 // Mark and Graham Elisabetta Slouch Bag in gray (looooove this) – $398 // Just Madras Sleeveless Ruffle Dress – $130 // JCrew Factory Denim Jacket  (I got this jacket for $30 and I haven’t taken it off for almost a month) – $45 // Reece Hudson Croc Embossed Pouchette – $295 // Cushion Gem Studs – $26 // Stella & Dot Oslo Necklace – $118 // Equipment Arden Blouse (wear now with white pants / wear later with denim/gray/or navy) – $248

March Lust List – Part One

12 Mar

By Whitney

It was warm for a day!!  Isn’t that so great?!!  It got me thinking of the coming month of April and how I always struggle with transition pieces. I love the idea of pairing the Halogen eyelet skirt with a sweater when you are chilly and a silk blouse when the season transitions. I love the fun earrings and I would take the Anthro Mayura necklace and tuck it under a collared shirt so sweetly.  Lauren and I both agree that we probably aren’t cool enough for those sick Anthro booties but my friend Elaine of SeeLark is definitely someone who could pull these off.  Blogging styling challenge!

March Lust List 1

Monday Lust List

10 Feb

By Whitney

After a Saturday in Soho shopping with not one purchase made, I am officially in spring mode.  I saw a lot of great items to get your closets ready for the warmer weather (it will come eventually, right?).   It’s hard to justify buying items that you won’t wear for a few months but there are some pieces that you can wear now / wear later which always helps.  Try an all black outfit with a pop of this Loeffler Cheetah Clutch.  Or put on the JCrew Factory lace top with a pencil skirt to your office – what a great suit basic.  I am looooving those Matt Bernson booties – they will be an amazing spring transition piece with your skinny jeans.

Monday Feb 9 Lust List

Transition Pieces – Fall Florals

3 Sep

By Whitney

Fall Florals

Hello everyone!! I hope everyone had a great long weekend even though this Tuesday feels like a totally bummed out Monday. I’m sorry for going MIA for a week but I desperately needed to recharge (and move which in NYC is no easy feat!). I’m back and thinking about fall trends already. An easy transition piece that is flexible for multiple seasons are items with floral prints on them. The key to doing this into fall and winter are dark florals. I am loving so many of these pieces. All of these dresses and skirts can be worn with tights into winter and will brighten up your winter wardrobes. Lauren and I love chiffon tops because they can be worn for pretty much 75% of the year. Black makes it a chic top to wear out (or under a blazer if your work allows). I also love this top and this girly dress as well. Both are fall worthy and can transition back into spring come April when you’re struggling on what to wear (again!).

Yumi Kim Poppy Dress – $180 // Red Valentino Floral Print Taffeta Dress (I’m sorry, it just is too pretty to resist) – $900 // Warehouse Trailing Floral Print Blouse – $75 (under $100!) // Lush Print Tee – $28 (steal) // Kate Spade Barry Skirt – $300 // Felicity & Coco Fit & Flare Dress – $98 (love this for under $100!)

Getting Excited for Anthropologie Fall

12 Aug

By Whitney

Anthropologie’s latest catalog has me drooling.  Summer is dwindling down (sad) and fall styles are coming in fast but this transition time is usually one that I do not get excited for.  Color me foolish because Anthro’s latest styles are just gorgeous.  I am loving the reasonably priced leathers and these perforated booties are just darling.  Time to start our fall collections!

Anthro leather top

Sculpted Katia Top  – $98

Booties

Paige Booties – $140 (These are a great transition piece to fall)

Carissima Sheath

Carissima Sheath – $258 (How perfect for a late summer/early fall wedding!)

Leopard Sweater Dress

Leopardo Sweater Dress – $178 (I am not an animal print girl but for some reason I am loving this especially how it’s styled)

Perforated Leather Accessories

Perforated Leather

By Whitney

I’ve spotted quite a few leather perforated pieces this spring that are absolutely awesome but really are just way too pricey (case in point this amazing Milly leather jacket and or this awesome sporty DKNY white dress).  I think it’s a great trend though so why not bring that into your accessories?  Handbags and shoes are a great way to incorporate this and I’m loving how the fun spring colors work with the intricate details.  I’d love to get my hands on those Dolce Vita Razia flats in every color.  So perfect for summer!

Clockwise from Top Left:  Rag & Bone Newbury Booties – $550 (coolest booties ever) // Milly Addison Facile Patent Clutch (also comes in black and white) – $275 // Matt Bernson Mulberry Ballet Flats – $170 // Coach Legacy Penny Leather Crossbody Bag – $258 // Vic Italy Flat Heel Perforated Booties (the holes on these booties are STARS)- $329  // Dolce Vita Razia Perforated Flats – $130 // Old Navy Perforated Ballet Flats (tons of colors) – $25 // Urban Expressions Perforated Clutch (also in black or pink) – $38
