Every October this is a favorite post of mine to write. So many great brands put out products that benefit breast cancer research of some sort and it’s great to see what’s new every year!! There are tons of products listed here on the BCRF site but some good ones are below. Let’s put our shopping dollars to good use ladies!! xo
Clockwise from top left: La Metier de Beaute Eye Shadow Kaleidoscope – $95 // Ippolita (their entire Rose collection benefits BCA and it’s all gorgeous) Hydrangea Earrings ($255), Rock Candy Ring ($850) and Single Stone Ring ($295) // Jane Iredale Roses Hydration Spray – $29 // Tory Burch Lip Color in Ramble on Rose – $32 // Tweezerman Precision in Pink Lash Curler – $14 // La Mer Lip Balm – $55 // North Face Pink Ribbon Osito 2 Jacket – $100 // GHD Vintage Pink Paddle Brush – $55 // DryBar BCA Mini Detox Dry Shampoo (this stuff is the best and I love a travel size) – $13 // Emi Jay Pink Ribbon Hair Ties – $6 // /Lands End Tote Bag (my favorite! My hair right now is LONG. It is mermaid style. While I love having it this length, it is gross and definitely damaged. I also tend to get insane knots when the winter season comes if my hair is at this (sort of professionally inappropriate, long-hair-don’t-care) hair length. Enter hair masks and strengthening products. My hair needs some serious HELP to keep it looking its best and keep up with my highlights (or enhancements, as I like to call them). Here are my go-to products to keep my hair silky and strengthen these strands UP.
Kerastase Chroma Riche Hair Masque (not a mask, a hair MASQUE) – $62.50. This mask really makes your hair so gorgeous. It leaves it silky and smooth especially for anyone with dry hair that happens this winter season!
Aveda Dry Remedy Hair Oil – $29. This stuff smells like patchouli and some sort of festival with hipsters but it is amazing.
Bumble and Bumble Full Potential Shampoo ($34) and Conditioner ($31). I tried this stuff as samples and after three washes, I was hooked. Bumble and Bumble saves my hair once again.
I always forget about this key item in my beauty arsenal until a zit pops up and I am like, “Umm hi. Bye.” Mario Badescu’s silver powder is a game changer. It gets rid of every blemish and blackhead and it does it’s job ASAP. You dab it on, wait 10 minutes and your face will look 10x better. Oh and it is $12. Obsessed.
Mario Badescu Silver Powder – $12
So I have been blessed with hair that can be air dried and not look heinous. I’m not saying it looks great but it’s doable. The best perk of this is not just that I avoid overheating from a blowdryer (my internal thermometer is BROKEN people!) but my long locks avoid a ton of damage and they need whatever they can get. With hair that has been highlighted for almost 15 years (ENHANCED BLONDE) it definitely suffers and I can almost always see the damage / breakage. Enter Invisible Hair Oil. OMG this stuff is amazing!! You only need a dime size so this $40 bottle lasts a while. It really protects and also tames at the same time. Obsessed. Bumble does it again.
Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser Invisible Oil – $39
A while ago I got a facial and while my skin looked great afterwards (or at least I told myself it did bc I spent money on a facial) the woman who did it made me have face guilt. I didn’t use oils enough, I wasn’t moisturizing enough, I did this wrong, blah blah. A friend of mine introduced me to Tatcha and I have to say, my skin is GLOWING these days and it is so soft I love it. I think I am addicted. The brand channels the beauty secrets the founder (an HBS grad) learned from a modern day geisha. The line is unreal and I’m obsessed.
I hate spending so much on new beauty products without knowing if they work well for my skin so Tatcha’s Ritual Kit (for $59!) is a great way to introduce yourself to the brand. The products last way longer than the two weeks suggested.
First, the cleansing oil is a great way to get your makeup off and then get that moisture our skin desperately needs this winter (it’s not over yet, ladies). The second step, Enzyme Powder, is a quick exfoliant that softened my skin in 20 seconds (seriously). After my skin was dry, I tried the brightening serum (step 3) and looooved it. It didn’t bother my eyes like most serums. Lastly, the moisturizing step is tailored to your skin type (sensitive, oily, dry, combo) and it smells amazing. Two weeks in, my skin looks and feel different and for the better. I can’t wait to try more of this fabulous brand!!
Within the last few weeks I have stumbled upon a few products I can’t believe I lived without… here they are:
Benefit They’re Real Mascara
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am pretttyyyy serious about my mascara endorsements. Up until yesterday, it had been Armani’s original Eyes to Kill, and while I definitely still love that product… I have to say, this Benefit They’re Real mascara is probably the best I’ve ever seen for feathery lashes. I borrowed a friend’s yesterday and holy moly… you guys, this is serious stuff. I don’t know what to say other than get your hands on this immediately!
Armani Liquid Summer
I bought this as part of my purchases after getting my makeup done last month and I figured it would be one of those worthless expenditures I end up throwing to the bottom of my drawer. WRONG. Mix this with your foundation for sun-kissed, dewey skin – it is an incredible product. Everyone who has tried mine has bought it immediately.
Armani Eye Tint
Whitney and I both walked out of our last make up counter run with the Armani eye tint – this is a fabulous product and the perfect finishing touch to your eye makeup routine. It’s not great for everyday because it is quite dramatic – but on the weekend, this gives your eyelids a little of that oomph they need – it really lights up and is so easy to apply. Think of it like a paintbrush for your lids!
Givenchy Very Irresistible
I am NOT one to take on new scents – it’s rare that I do…but I smelled this on a friend and couldn’t get enough. She actually mixes a few drops with her body lotion — it creates the perfect clean, feminine fragrance. I am definitely giving this a whirl. It is also a great way to maximize space while traveling – fragrance and lotion in one!
Welcome back guys!! I am not sure about you but this Monday was definitely a struggle. I think there should be an official diagnosis for Christmas/New Years depression that happens to me every year on whatever day I come back to work. While my trips were so much fun (best two weeks I’ve had in years) my skin is paying the price for my Cookie Party Girl persona. I am detoxing by not drinking for a couple of weeks (or at least trying to) but a facial has also been booked and my beauty products are in full rotation. Besides busting out your Clarisonics, the below are some great products to get your skin back into it’s pretty state!
Clockwise from top left: Arcona Triad Toner Pads – $32 (for 45) // Karin Herzog Essential Mask – $60 // Guerlain Anti Puffiness Eye Patches (expensive but these work wonders) – $125 // Jojoba Youth Serum (all natural!) – $38 // iS Clinical Poly Vitamin Serum – $98 // Philosophy Hope in a Jar (it’s a cult classic for a reason) -$42 // Belli Pre Treatment Scrub (exfoliate that face girl) – $24 // GlamGlow SuperCleanse Cleanser – $39
Every girl loves a beauty product. I don’t care how low maintenance you claim to be, no one wants wrinkles and no one wants to look at raggedy nails. There are so many great beauty sets out there this season (a lot have sold out online so check out your Nordstroms asap) and there are a lot of great one off products to get someone that will be appreciated. No one says “I don’t like” to a Chanel face.
Clockwise from top left: Creme de la Mer Cream (treat yo’self) – $160 // Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Trio (these tiny lipsticks have bows on them) – $39 // Deborah Lippman Set (perfect stocking stuffer) – $30 // Chanel Quadra Eyshadow Set (we love these and they come in lots of colors) – $61 // MAC Keepsakes Brush Set (MAC travel brushes are the best) – $53 // Nars Roman Holiday Set (lipstick, nailpolish and cheek stain) – $49 // Alexis Bittar for Sephora Liquid Gold Beauty Brush (or try the set; these brushes are works of art) – $58 // Christian Louboutin Nudes Nail Color – $50 (each) // Molton Brown Pink Pepperpod Cracker (Lauren and my favorite MB scent) – $25 // Chanel Glossimer Trio – $90 // Laura Mercier Hand Cream Set (my fav hand cream) – $27 // Kiehl’s Bath and Shower Gel (it’s a great idea to get someone giant version of a product they love. In my case, grapefruit Kiehl’s body wash) – $25 // Molton Brown Bath & Body Treasures – $60 // Henri Bendel 4 Piece Cosmetics Case – $98 // Lauren Conrad Beauty Book – $10 // Aerin Beauty Rose Hand & Body Creme (such a pretty bottle!) – $36 /// Tata Harper Daily Essentials Set (great way to try this amaze brand) – $68 // Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Snowflake Bottle (my fav scent in a gorge bottle) – $120
If you were to go on Survivor (okay 10 years ago), what would be the one item you bring? I debate the answer to this one a lot but I’m pretty sure I would say black liquid eyeliner. I realize this is an absurd thing to bring (I mean who needs something practical like a toothbrush?) but I am also severely addicted to black eyeliner. Maybe I would say mascara but I think eyeliner is what really gives people the impression that I am awake / interesting in what they are talking about. My go-to is usually Stila liquid liner but I tried Benefit’s Push Up Liner last week and now I am addicted. The line goes on so easily and this stuff just does not come off or fade throughout your day. It just hugs your lash line better than any other product and all of our lashes need serious hugging.
Benefit “they’re real” push up eyeliner – $24
Every year my skin likes to tell me that I am getting older and I say, game on, face. What makes the battle truly unfair is when my eyes get wrinklier and then a pimple appears an inch below. What sort of game is this, skin???? True to form I went to Kiehl’s because their products never irritate my sensitive skin. I found an amazing face wash and it’s really made a difference. With my Clarisonic or without, this Kiehl’s face wash gives my face a clean feel like no other. My skin has definitely cleared up and feels great. $20 for face wash is pricey but I’d say this is 100% worth it.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser (oil free) – $20
P.S. As a side note, a happy birthday to my dad. Big Ken, you really are the best dad ever.
