It’s so rainy and a bit cold today so I definitely have my mind on beach time. I am loving all of the bright stuff below and there is one item here that I think I need asap – a white denim jacket. Is it too 80’s? I am thinking no. What do you guys think? I love the idea of it with navy dresses for spring. I’m also loving my fav color in Tkees and that adorable crab beach bag. So much fun. Go grab that Shoshanna for every rehearsal dinner you have. It’s expensive but you’ll rock that all summer (and fall) long!!
Clockwise from top left: Turkish Towel – $29 // Zara Rhinestone Necklace – $50 // Kendra Scott Morgan Earring (comes in a ton of fun colors!) – $55 // Kaeli Smith Blue Crab Beach Bag – $70 // JCrew Factory Pleated Stripe Shorts – $45 // Shoshanna Alexandria Dress – $440 // TKees Flip Flops (in the perfect pink) – $50 // JCrew Pleated Front Dress – $98 (with code “SUMMERTIME”) // Equipment Slim Signature Striped Cotton Top (my fav blue) – $158 // Sperry Angelfish Mesh Boat Shoe – $85 // Mara Hoffman Printed Underwire Bikini (love that this isn’t completely scandalous) – $235 // Gap White Denim Jacket – $35
My best friend is headed to St. John for a wedding in a month which we have realized is not an easy trip to plan an outfit for. Beach weddings are always tough but with summer prints not yet in full effect, I had to do some digging. I am a huge fan of the maxi for beach weddings but not everyone loves that look so here are a few of my favorite options. Rent The Runway options included! Besides the below, I pretty much love everything from Alice and Trixie for a beach wedding. This bright yellow maxi, this shorter more casual look, and this halter that comes in maxi or short version.
Top Row: Trina Turk Leah Shift Dress – $270 // Milly Neon Pink Punch Dress (also loving this gorge maxi on RTR) – $60 for a rental // Clover Canyon Fluorescent Rose Dress – $317
Bottom Row: Eliza J Pleat Maxi Dress – $160 //Lilly Pulitzer Janice Shift Dress – $188 // Alice and Trixie Amanda Maxi Dress (love this in all of the prints) – $200 (was $400)
Every few years, I come across a luxury handbag that I obsess over and dream about pairing with my outfits. It’s not in the cards this year for purchase but I am loving YSL’s Sac De Jour handbag (just not the $2600 price tag). The fog gray color is stunning. It got me thinking how I’ve seen so many spring handbags in just about every color but black. Don’t get me wrong, you’re black bags will always be a go-to but it’s fun to see pastels as the new neutral!
Top Row: Zac by Zac Posen Earth Satchel – $595 // Alexander Wang Rockie Satchel – $795 // Tory Burch Fleming Mini Bag (love the pink + chain link) – $350 // Everglades Cosmetics Case – $48
Bottom Row: French Connection Runaway Clutch – $60 (was $90) //Rebecca Minkoff Jules Convertible Clutch – $295 // Liebeskind Python Embossed Satchel (loooove) – $348 // MZ Wallace Neon Pink Metro Tote (obsessed with this pink) – small $175, large $195
Happy Friday everyone!! Lauren is hard at work studying for exams (let’s wish her all luck at the count of three…1,2,3!) and I am currently in Texas for a wedding that I could not be more excited for. Congratulations to two of my favorites, Kevan and Abby (a loyal PP follower). I can’t wait to celebrate but I figured I’d share what’s in my suitcase for the amazing weather I’m about to encounter. I’d say the theme is….COLOR.
Colorful shorts like these Lilly Pulitzers ($98) and a JCrew Tippi Sweater in peach or baby pink ($80) will be perfect with one of my go-to bright pairs of boatshoes ($88). Adding a bright monogram necklace (thank you to Lauren for my perfect cobalt one!) will add just another perfect pop of color and I’ll balance it all out with a neutral bag. Loving this Christopher Kon hobo ($475).
My big splurge of late was a seriously cool Nicholas dress. I’m pretty pumped about it and can’t wait to pair it with a chunky JCrew necklace ($165) and sandal heels to add some skin to the look as Lauren suggested since the dress is pretty covered up. With all of the bright colors I might do a black bag to balance it all out. I am not even linking to a Chanel bag because the price is absurd but still. It would look awesome.
I can’t get over just how gorgeous this ML Monique Lhiullier diamond back dress is. Lauren and I have decided it is my new classic and it is so stunning. I’m pairing it with a chunky pearl necklace and neutral ladylike pumps (like these amazing Ferragamo Tina Pumps – $575 – sorry.). A bright pop of color in my Lauren Merkin hot pink silk clutch (similar here for $100) is adding a little fun into my classic look.
I am also packing hot pink flip flops because those will be a must for Saturday night!! xoxo
A lot of times I’ll take flights for the weekends straight from work…not an easy thing to plan for when you have a three day weekend packed into a carry on. This means that whatever you’re wearing to work that day is an option for the weekend if you’re strategic in your packing (as I clearly believe in). This upcoming weekend is a wedding one which means a rehearsal dinner/luncheon dress might be something I can wear to work before my flight on Thursday. I have had my eye on this tweed Kate Spade number since it came out and it is just darling once you have it on. It fits perfectly and while it is pricey right now, it was on sale at Bloomies last week and I have a feeling will drop its price soon…
On the left you’ll see how I’d take this dress to work…the key is neutrals. I might spice it up with a pretty scarf or a pastel necklace but for the most part I’m rocking some nudes and light grays. On the right is how I’d dress this up for a wedding event. I love the idea of pairing this gorgeous mintey turquoise with a bright pop of color like yellow, pink or cobalt. Such a polished way of wearing brights.

My purchases always focus a lot on officewear but I’m starting to purchase more outfits with “work to weekend” in mind. There are lots of dresses that I own that take me from the office during the day to a different type of event whether it be that night or just accessorized differently for weekend. I have my eyes on this fun lemon print sheath dress from C.Wonder and with a great blazer, I think I can rock this in the office. I love how the print can be dressed up with fancier wedges or more casual with brighter accessories. All of the above are part of Friends and Family(s) going on so make sure to get those discounts (codes below)!!

Working in a building with a JCrew in the lobby is really not great for my credit card but it is good in terms of trying on items and waiting for them to go on super sale online. I’ve tried on pretty much every Collection cashmere sweater when I’ve been bored at work and needed a ten minute break and right now, they are on super sale on JCrew.com (not in the store which annoys me but still). Enter code “SPRINGTHAW” and you’ll get 30% off of the sale items including these sweaters. The cashmere is light and super soft (way better than their non-collection line) and the prints are great for spring. I love the fun colors and the stripes!!
Top Row: Pencil Stripe in rose snow – $119 (was $198) // Microcheck Cardigan – $132 (was $268) // Tippi Striped Sweater – $69 (was $218)
Bottom Row: Boxy Boy Sweater in Stripe (love the green too) – $69 (was $138) // Sorbet Stripe – $140 (was $248) // Pencil Stripe in sky snow – $119 (was $198)
Spring has officially hit DC and with that – so have the bright colors and bold prints that are defining this year’s season. I have spotted a few affordable finds & have to say that I am excited to deviate from my classic “preppy” spring look by incorporating some unexpected patterns and cuts into my repertoire.
ASOS Love Dress
Samudra Shark Pouch
I am always looking for cute pouches and ways to better organize my handbag – this is super cool.
Surfers have always screamed cool. This print is so evocative of the Endless Summer – despite its description as a “pencil skirt” this will wow on a Saturday night.
So this is a bit more expensive than the rest, but given it’s all leather and has ample room to take you from 9-5, the price point is justified. The color is divine.
We’re hoping these colorful posts have gotten you in the mood for Spring since it officially started yesterday. Today’s color is periwinkle / cornflower blue – my absolute favorite to wear even without a spray tan. Nothing goes better with your basic white and the softness of this color translates so well on any soft fabric.
Madewell ankle strap mini – $100 // Kara Ross Raw Resin Earrings – $85 (obsessed) // Monogrammed Minnie & Emma iPhone Case – $50 // DV by Dolce Vita Lunna Flat – $79 // Rebecca Minkoff Skylar Crossbody – $325 // Greylin Maggie Silk Crep Dress – $120 //Baublebar Peri Hex Strand – $42 // Modcloth Cupcake Tasting Dress – $53 // Botkier Valentina Shoulder Bag – $295 //Repetto Ballet Flats (are these not perfection????) – $295 (but try these for much less) // ONE by boundary vegan leather skirt – $100
I. Love. Jackets. This is an understatement. I’ve found my job has required me to wear a jacket more and more often but that doesn’t mean I’m going to resort to something boring. My go-to jackets are drapey and tweed. Drapey take me from day to night easily and a classic tweed will never go out of style.
Willow & Clay Metallic Thread Tweed Jacket – $108 // Textured Drape Jacket – $70 (comes in three great colors!) //Alice & Olivia Fae Open Front Jacket – $48 // C. Wonder Tweed Jacket – $168 (also in a perfect white)
Addison Rivington Jacket – $198 // Juicy Couture Sharp Suiting Blazer – $198 (sale from $249) // Tildon Vintage Drape Front Blazer – $78 // Milly Perforated Leather Jacket – $695 (this jacket is…amazing)
