April Showers Bring May Flowers – On Your Feet

6 May

By Whitney

Why not welcome spring with your feet and not just your wardrobes???  I love the idea of pairing transitional pieces like a solid black or navy dress with a fun pair of heels to add some flavor to the outfit.  This weather can’t not put a smile to your face so even if you’re stuck in a windowless office, your shoes can do it too!

Brands We Love – Alice and Trixie

27 Apr

By Whitney

I did my closet switch-over this weekend and one of my favorite parts is reminding myself how much color I wear during the warmer months!!  One of my favorite brands for awesome pops of color is Alice and Trixie.   This brand makes the most gorgeous prints in silk dresses that will instantly make you smile.  I wore an amazing strapless (Alice and Trixie maxi (!!)  to the Lilly Beach Bash this past December (here’s a pic of me at the party!) and I couldn’t have channeled 60’s Palm Beach chic any better.  I’m looking for my next Alice and Trixie and here are my favorites so far…

Once I do actually make my move to my new apartment, I have been leaning towards a new look.  It’s been in the process this year (a few vases and trays here and there) but now that I’m moving to a place I’ll actually own I want it to look like an actual home.  Not just a home but the perfect one for me to come home to and to entertain!  Here are some things I’m thinking about…

Wednesday Watercolors

It’s not warm yet but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting our spring wardrobes started.  I am loving this watercolor paintbrush trend this spring.  It’s almost like a new take on pastels with some bold colors combined.  So many different options here and I am definitely getting my hands on some of these easy pieces!!

Outdoor Entertaining

12 May

By Whitney

My apartment is on the tiny side but the best part about it is the balcony.  I AM SO BIG TIME.  I want to get some outdoor entertaining pieces (champs on the terrace anyone???) without breaking the bank.  This weekend I found so much cute stuff with lots of color to entertain with!

Last year I picked up a bistro set for under $100 at Joss and Main.  I’m loving the pop of color on this one from One Kings Lane!

Kai 3-Pc Bistro Set, Blue

I’ll grab a set of outdoor placemats since no matter how amny times I clean my table, I’m convinced it’s covered in NYC grossness.

S/4 Carousel Outdoor Place Mats, Pink

I always love CWonder for reasonably priced fun home decor and their outdoor melamine tablesets are no exception.  I love the idea of this blue and white pattern.  A perfect tray ($38), dinner plates ($12), coral salad plates ($10), and a set of inset trays ($58) to put all of your guacs and dips in!

CWonder Melamine SetLast but not least, beverages must be served.  If I had a few ladies over, I’d mix up some spritzers in this acrylic beverage dispenser ($20), a set of unbreakable wine glasses (I feel like all men should own these), some fun tumblers just to have or some weatherproof goblets if you are feeling fancy.

Ladies, my apologies for the delayed publishing today.  It’s been a crazy day at work (i.e. my screen has been projected all day so going on PP might not be so appreciated by some of the men I work with).  Today I’ve been lusting over some bright colors and fun items.  Whenever work is annoying, I always veer towards the play clothes like those adorable JCrew shorts and that amazing striped top for a great price.   Loving this warmer weather!

Tuesday Lust List

I know it’s supposed to spring but the weather forecast this week is predicting a glum one.  I keep reading about how summer is going to be brutal so really, I shouldn’t complain.  Either way, I’ve started to bust out the brighter colors at work and changing my closet over to spring was a lot of work but lots of fun.  What are you guys craving these days?  Pops of color?  Neutrals?  It’s all just so tempting…

March Lust List – Part One

12 Mar

By Whitney

It was warm for a day!!  Isn’t that so great?!!  It got me thinking of the coming month of April and how I always struggle with transition pieces. I love the idea of pairing the Halogen eyelet skirt with a sweater when you are chilly and a silk blouse when the season transitions. I love the fun earrings and I would take the Anthro Mayura necklace and tuck it under a collared shirt so sweetly.  Lauren and I both agree that we probably aren’t cool enough for those sick Anthro booties but my friend Elaine of SeeLark is definitely someone who could pull these off.  Blogging styling challenge!

May Lust List – 2.0

Lust List 2.0By Whitney

I can’t tell yet if making these lust lists is damaging to my credit card or not.  On one hand, it’s gathering things I want and I haven’t yet bought.  On the other hand, when I am in a shopping mood, it’s pretty easy to just click on the below and buy something for myself without thinking.  I’m on the hunt for a strappy sandal that can take me from day to night and also won’t make my feet feel like I murdered them (stay tuned for future posts) so these Vince Camutos are pretty great.  I also can’t even handle how sweet the sailboat sweater is.  I also tip my hat to the folks at C Wonder because the idea of pearls within their native clams ON MY EARS is pretty much genius.  Also, who doesn’t want a little yellow bikini that channels our inner Sandra Dee?

Miu Miu Scalloped Bikini – $245 // Tildon Drape Front Blazer – $78 // CWonder Seashell Pearl Earrings – $38 // Boy. By Band of Outsiders Sailboat Intarsia Sweater – $345 //Vince Camuto Eliana Sandal – $110 // Club Monaco Mary Scalloped Shorts – $78 // CWonder Starfish Ring Set – $38 // Clare Vivier Studded Flat Clutch – $200 // Shoshanna Selma Shift Dress – $375

WCH Lust List – May

I should rephrase the title of this post to be “WCH Lust List – One of Many For May” because there are just so many awesome colorful things out there right now that I would love to add to my collection.  The leather accents on the Rebecca Taylor tweed jacket are out of this world gorgeous and I’d feel so great at work wearing something so cool.  I love the color of the Madison Harding sandals (and the price) and I just adore the Gorjana foldover clutch for going out.  NEED.
