Splurge vs. Steal: Lace Up Flats

21 Sep

By Whitney

Aquazurra shoes are everywhere right now and for a very good reason.  I spotted these flats out on Saturday night in cobalt blue and I had to say, I was jealous.  I can’t  imagine the piece in the back to be so comfortable but it’s a great fall trend.  Enter Topshop’s version of the lace up flat.  Save yourself a few pennies (and blister bandaids) and pair with your skinnies to step your outfit up a notch.

Splurge:  Aquazzura Christy Flat – $695

Steal:  Topshop Kingdom Flats – $100

Some More Fall Sales Picks

3 Oct

By Whitney

A couple of great sales are going on right now…Charm and Chain has Friends and Family through 10/8.  Get 25% off all of their amazing jewelry with code “FRIENDS12”.  Ann Taylor has 30% off of everything with code “SALE30”.

I am obsessed with this necklace.

Fallon Gold & Black Collage Collar -$170  ($225 without code)

These are so sweet and simple.  Buying more makes stacking quite tempting.

Wendy Mink Square Set Stone Rings – $38 each ($50 without code)

I love how simple this is.

Giles and Brother Hook Cuff -$86 ($115 without code)

I just ordered this blouse to see if it can be a replacement for some desperately needed Equipment blouses because it is about 25% of the price.  True.  I’m loving these two jewel tones.

Silk Button Down Camp Shirt – $69 ($98 without code)

I love the idea of a monochrome look with these navy lace pants and the navy silk blouse above.   I can actually rock this at my boring office.

Lace Slim Cropped Pants – $69 ($98 without code)

I’m also loving tweed suits for work when I need to look fancier but the jackets are just as easy to pair with some skinnies.  This pink one would look great with jeans.  I’m loving this jade as well!

Spotlight on VC Signature Shoes

Vince Camuto is an affordable brand that I usually see one or two pieces each season that I think are perfect and I tend to wear them a whole lot. I just noticed they have a higher end shoe line VC Signature by Vince Camuto that isn’t necessarily cheap but is also not $500 a pair and a lot of the shoes are spot on for fall trends.  I love how the cap toes are metal accents or snakeskin in the Prospera’s case. I just love the idea of pointy mary janes and these seem to be everywhere this season.  My favorites are the Prunella as they look like a more quality version of a Zara pair I had my eye on last spring (with awesome studded detail).  I hope these pumps make it into my fall work wardrobe at some point!

Top Row:  Prunella in taupe – $250 // Prospera Pump – $250 // Priscilla Pump (also in black) – $2225

Bottom Row:  Nancy Loafer (tassels!) – $225 // Nova Loafer – $185 // Carrie Flat (snakeskin or suede) – $185 or $195

Cognac Leather Skirts

Last fall on a shopping trip with my sister and mom, I tried on this awesome tobacco colored leather skirt at Madewell…and didn’t purchase it. I regret this. Very much.  It looked so awesome with a button down shirt and I would have loved to also pair it with a black crewneck sweater and tights.  Fret not because this season, cognac colored leather skirts are everywhere (and Madewell has already come out with the black version for fall so I’m crossing my fingers they pull a repeat).  Leather is pricey but there are a few on here that won’t break the bank.  The pleats on the A&O box pleat skirt are just perfection but  Nanette Lepore’s option might be long enough to wear to work.

Top Row:  Oasis Leather Look Pleated Skirt – $39 // Halston Heritage Flared Leather Skirt – $695 // Alice and Olivia Box Pleat Leather Skirt – $396

Bottom Row:  Costa Blanca Leather Skirt – $87 // Nanette Lepore Catch Me Leather Skirt – $600 // Patterson J Kincaid Polly Leather Skirt – $298
