Rockin’ Reindeer

It’s so bad… it’s good.  That is fashion irony for you & we are super into it as the holidays approach.  For instance, wearing Reindeers on your sweater was so uncool, that now, it is cool again.  We even like to add a cotton turtleneck underneath for extra, overt irony of what is now so hip it hurts.  Check out these options:

Holiday Headband Request

8 Dec

By Whitney

PP received a request for headbands to wear for the holiday season. While we aren’t suggesting wearing tartan plaid with crystals and taking the festivities to your head (you might be mistaken for Toddlers and Tiaras) we do fully support the headband campaign and found some dressy items you might be interested in.

As a headband wearer all throughout business school, I have amassed quite a collection of bows on top of my head.  I miss it.  I do recommend wearing flatter bows as they tend to look a little more sophisticated.   It’s hard to tell what these babies look like on your own head so go check out Bendels or Barneys for the best headband selection.  Also, take a look at Etsy for some unique and one of a kind pieces.

Comes in all black or with different color rhinestones. FESTIVE.

Tasha Rhinestone Bow Headband – $38

You are the Christmas present.  Comes in a bunch of different colors.

Sassy Bow Headband – $42

Simple and sweet but  I wish the pictures were bigger.  Sold out online but head to the store for these or the ones below.  No one has a better headband selection than Henri Bendel.  It’s a fact.

Metal Bow Headband – $48

Natasha assorted headbands – $58 – $98

Also comes in black but this is subtle enough to just look like a brooch in your hair.  Pretty bird.

Tasha Peacock Headband – $48

This is like a snowflake on your head.  My sister with her ridiculously amazing auburn hair would look darling in this one.

Tasha Round Crystal Moment Headband – $32

Sparkly but black so a bit understated.

Eugenia Kim Christy Braided Headband – $85

Sales Alert – Correspondence Style

2 Dec

By Whitney

Today’s Lucky Deal Alert is 50% off Minnie & Emma. This is one of my FAVORITE online stores because they have envelope liners.  That is all it takes, people.  Cute envelope liners.

Regularly a set of 20 personalized notecards with AN ENVELOPE LINER costs $60 but it’s $30 today only with the code “luckydaily5” and I can’t recommend this enough.  I adore their prints and you can find such cute stuff that suits your personality.  Notecards, address labels, notepads…all of it is just too cute.

My friend Jean is the queen of sending just the sweetest notes (it really makes your day when you get one from her in the mail) and what a perfect Christmas or bday gift for someone like that.   Stay tuned for some more holiday gift suggestions next week…

Not 100% sure if the discount applies here but the site has some other cute finds like personalized plates and bows for a munchkin or preppy personalized iphone covers for you.

Taylor Looks Pretty

14 Nov

Just wanted to show how cute Taylor Swift looks in the Rebecca Minkoff Frida lace dress we featured a while back.  I (Whitney) tried this dress on and sort of looked like a hooker but Taylor rocks this.  I’d like to borrow her legs for just one week.  Love it!!!

The Non-Boring Blazer

4 Nov

By Whitney

After my favorite Rebecca Minkoff post and my jealousy of Lauren’s Club Monaco jacket ensued, I had a few requests to find a sequined blazer similar to the amazing Becky jacket for less than the $600 not-so-amazing price.  Sequins and beading take dresses/tops/pants/anything to a higher level and are perfect additions to your holiday collections.  I prefer them in a neutral color so that I can pair with just about anything.  Throw them over a LBD for a holiday party or a white t shirt and black skinny pants for a Saturday night out and you’re good to go.  I’d stay away from a ton of necklaces or statement earrings and stick to bangles and fun “arm parties” for your nights out.

The detachable bow option makes this jacket incredibly versatile.  I can wear this with black shorts and tights without the bow or on top of a black dress with the bow to a work event for a formal option.

Robbi & Nikki Sequined Jacket – $295 (XS or S)  (M or L)

I’m obsessed with this jacket. It is perfect.  I don’t even know what else to say.

Parker Beaded Cluster Jacket – $330 (10% off Revolve with code “TULIP”)

I saw this in the store and it’s great for those who want more of a muted sparkle. The sequins don’t overwhelm the outfit so you can pair this with something a bit more intricate than a basic black top.

Zara Blazer with Sequins – $90

A more casual option for those that want to pair this with jeans. I love this charcoal-ey purple color.

Velvet Emella Sequined Cardigan – $185

Cabin Fever

2 Nov

by Lauren

Tuesday’s Shopbop email got me all hopped up about the coming of cooler weather.  The cabin/lumber/hunting/holiday/winter/snow inspired garb was just thrilling to me.  This look can be a tad too androgynous for my taste, but in true Shopbop form, their look book nailed this by selecting pieces that maintain feminine elements.  That is the key here – you need to maintain feminine silhouettes and accents when heading down this route.

I am just obsessed with this Torn by Ronny Kobo Lumber Jacket – available on Shopbop BUT also available at Black Label Boutique whereupon you can receive 20% off your first purchase for signing up for their emails – Win/Win.  Obviously I love all of these deer inspired things, including the Dolce Vita Fortuna Poncho which is at Shopbop {but get it at Revolve and save 10% with the code “TULIP”}, the Maison Scotch deer print socks, and the Wildfox Cabin Girl cardigan.  This brand Le Mont St. Michel (bottom left corner) and all of their nordic inspired pieces are the perfect blend of styled, outdoorsy, girly, comfort.  Plus check out Maison Scott’s girly flair on their flannel shirt with the star elbow patches.

And Nine West – I didn’t think we’d be hanging out again but you’ve totally redeemed yourself this season. These Daphne boots are perfect.

Giambattista Valli for Macys

28 Oct

By Whitney

Giambattista Valli is known for his whimsical feminine looks and Emma Stone rocked my favorite of his designs this summer. She is wearing hot pink poofs and the second I saw it, I loved it.

His collection for Macy’s is equally cute and just plain pretty at a fantastic price.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Red Ruffle Overlay Dress – $99

Perfect with a pair of opaque tights and patent pumps for a holiday party.

Strapless Organza Ruffle Tiered Belted Dress – $139

I mean, this is a dream.  Too cute!!!

Long Sleeve Ruffle Front Blouse  -$69

A classic piece to wear to work or play.

Organza Degrade Soutache Petal Detail Skirt – $100

The details on this are gorgeous. This whole outfit is simply adorable.

Erickson Beamon BEAMS Again

15 Oct

by Lauren

I have been coveting the vibrant, unique designs of Erickson Beamon ever since I was introduced to the line via Charm & Chain.  The pieces are expensive, as they should be – they are handcrafted with semi-precious stones.  The craftsmanship is impeccable.  I am so psyched to announce that Erickson Beamon has collaborated with Bauble Bar at a more affordable price point.  I am salivating over these two pieces:

Versaille Dye Gem Earrings, $94

Versaille Bonbon Bracelet, $142

I am tempted to purchase these for the Gobble Wobble event I attend every year on the day after Thanksgiving.  The event is a fundraiser for the recently founded “Born and Raised Detroit” non-profit, founded by several of my close friends.  The bright splashes of color would serve my monochromatic silver dress and shoes quite well.  Note:  these two pieces are made to order so they do not ship until 11/15 – 12/1.

& o.m.g. just discovered the designers are from Detroit.  I would say it’s meant to be.
