By Whitney

It is time for the Pretty Polished gift giving guide posts to commence!!  These are my absolute favorite posts of the year to write and it is so much fun putting them together.  We all have a lot of holiday gatherings to attend and I always try to bring a little something to show the hostess my gratitude.  I love the idea of giving something with holiday sparkle but also can be used throughout the year.  White and gold is a great combination and I am loving the below items for some gifting.  So many cute things on here but some other favorites that didn’t make the collage include these adorable snowflake notecards, this festive iPhone case that will be easy to find in a pitch black purse and this gold and white wrapping paper to gift it all in!

New Site Alert – Mark and Graham

15 Feb

By Whitney

The Williams Sonoma Company has a new member and I welcome Mark and Graham with open arms.  Their products are classic and affordable.  The best part?  Pretty much every item can be personalized in some way.  Monograms, phrases, addresses…just about anything can be added on to these great gift ideas (for you too!).  The bright colors sucked me in immediately so I wish you the best of luck keeping your credit card in your wallets for this one.

Easter Eggs

Perfect for a munchkin’s Easter basket…or yours because they look pretty yummy.

Personalized Easter Egg Cookies – $28

Grosgrain Border Placemats

I love the idea of these to keep at your table (even if you barely use it like mine).  I also wouldn’t rule out placing one under my jewelry box to break up the monotony of my furniture.

Grosgrain Border Placemats (set of 4) – $59Hammered Coaster

These are just classic and a great gift for any hostess (including those that you don’t quite know their style).

Hammered Coasters (set of 4) – $39
wine bags

I’ve already ordered a bunch of these in porcelain blue to keep as back ups for when I’m bringing a bottle of wine (which is quite often).  I embroidered mine to say “XoXo” but “Cheers” would also be a good one.

Linen Wine Bag with Grosgrain Tie (set of 3) – $39

Hostess with the Mostess

28 Sep

By Lauren

One of my very dear friends was married last weekend and I had the sincere pleasure of being in her wedding and celebrating all things wedding related with her. What is also special is that friends of the bride’s mother offered to host the bridesmaids in their homes so we would not have a hotel bill and so we would be well taken care of throughout the weekend. Well let me just say – my time was unmatched by any hotel experience! Not only is Fox Chapel, PA picturesque, my temporary digs looked straight out Home & Gardens magazine. My hostess was a total doll and I’m hoping we remain forever friends. I wanted to send her a gift that was representative of the taste and decor in her home. I intentionally waited until after my visit so I could pick something that suited her.

I immediately thought of MacKenzie-Childs. Their pieces are hand crafted, classic, and full of personality. Not to mention, I spotted a piece or two in her kitchen and living room, which confirmed my idea.

I gravitated toward these ascot candle holders:

They come in Small, Medium, and Large sizes and range in price from about $27 – $50 depending on the size and painting.  The larger ones double as vases so I went with the large and the design on the top.  Too cute! I want one for myself!
