Happy first day of Spring! It’s finally here you guys! Took long enough. I’m on the hunt for a new trench coat this spring so look forward to sharing that mission with me this season. I loved this Kate Spade trench with the bow detail at the back collar and the super cute mod lining. Kate Spade’s coats really are my favorite. I came across the JCrew Factory version of the shorter navy trench and I think this is a great staple for your closet. It’s a classic cut and when you aren’t in a khaki trench mode (or can never find the right tan to complement your coloring like me) the navy is a perfect choice.
Splurge: Kate Spade Stergis Trench – $300 (was $598)
Steal: JCrew Factory Belted Trench – $168 (and get it for $126 since it’s 25% off with code “STOCKUP”)
The black dress section of my closet is quite substantial and for good reason. Black dresses are my go-to for everything because they are just SO easy! I saw this Kate Spade Catarina dress and thought it would be perfect for work and play with that sweet collar detailing adding just enough to keep it from being boring. I held off and I’m glad I did because I came across this Asos tulip dress that fit the bill perfectly. It’s actually a more flattering style for me because it’s fitted and the studded detailing on the collar takes it from being sweet to chic.
Splurge: Kate Spade Catarina Dress – $398
Steal: Asos Tulip Dress with Collar Detail – $47 (was $68)
Lots of things have my eye right now…most pieces are transitional ones that I can wear today or in a month depending on the color combos but some are just pretty things I simply just want. I am loving these Loeffler flats; they’d look so perfect with a pair of cropped black pants. These Kate Spade earrings are just gorgeous and so unique. My go-to’s for work are always my sheath dresses and this boucle + leather combo is awesome.
Rebecca Taylor Boucle Sheath (I am dying for this to go on sale…DYING) – $475 // Kate Spade Stepping Stones Earrings – $98 // JCrew Factory Intarsia Sweater – $58 //Clu Jersey and Point D’Esprit Cardigan (this reminds me of Alicia Silverstone in Clueless and I love) – $235 // Zara Jacquard Jacket with zips (so cool over dresses or skinnies) – $120 // Fornash Park Avenue Necklace (this is just perfection) – $120 // Loeffler Randall Erika Pointed Toe Flats – $250 //Gap Slim Cropped Pants – $55

So I recently took the plunge and joined the iPad movement. I was not sure how useful I would find the actual iPad but I am actually finding that I am READING so much more! I even started a book club! So if that is the only thing that comes from this acquisition, I will consider the iPad a success. However, those little critters are fragile, so I need a chic case to protect it. Why are these cases so expensive? I have no idea.
Gigi iPad Case
This one is my favorite – it can be monogrammed so people know PAWS OFF.
Z Spoke by Zac Posen
This is a sleeve (very different from a case) – how girly and cute.
All of us have fond memories of the Keds we wore while growing up. It’s been a while since I threw on a pair but this spring, things might change. Kate Spade took their whimsical girly prints and brought them to the footwear staple and I am dying to try a pair of polka dotted sneakers with a cute pair of cuffed jeans. While it is going to be hard to compare to the air brush pair of Keds my mom got me (I believe they had an airbrushed beach scene with my name on them), I’m pretty into these adorable prints.
Kate Spade for Keds – $75 – $85
As of now, get them at Keds.com or at Piperlime
I must confess, windowpane plaid might be one of the few “menswear” trends that I am into. I don’t think I can walk around with pants that are wide or put a tie on or something masculine like that. What I can do is get into menswear prints that have gone feminine like this one. All of these are great transition pieces for when you never know what to wear when winter is sort of over and spring is sort of here.
On the lefthand side we have the pricier pieces. JCrew’s Featherweight Cashmere Cardigan ($268) in navy sky or the orchid purple pink is something I hope will last until they have a sale. Tibi came out with such cute items with windowpane checks and these two are my favorite. The pleated pants ($385 ) would look amazing with just a plain white cotton t shirt and Lauren adores the drop waist feature in the checkered dropwaist dress ($445). Kate Spade’s Franny Coat ($545) is pricey but I adore the idea of wearing this with all black (i.e. my daily life uniform in nyc).
Forever21 has this adorable checked button down shirt in both mint (love) and black and white for $16. I mean, it’s at your own risk if you wash it once and then the arm falls off but still. Did you read that correctly? $16. Amazing. GET IT. They also have this adorable grid pattern sweater for the steeper price of $20…Topshop’s Grid Print Tunic Dress ($76) is absolutely adorable and I love the idea of this with opaque tights and some booties.
This past weekend, I found myself wishing I had a winter coat specifically for my dressier occasions. There are a lot of pretty ones out there and with the holiday party circuit in full effect, it’s time for you to get one as well.
Top Row: Oasis Drop Waist Coat – $263 // Kate Spade Linda Coat – $700 // Milly Cocktail Coat – $650 (this rose gold color is just stunning)// Alice & Olivia Connie Coat – $500 (was $800)
Bottom Row: Tory Burch Bridget Metallic Coat – $995 // Topshop Fur Collar Peplum Skirt Coat – $130 (this is my fav coat on here!) //Moschino Cheap and Chic Peacoat – $1400 (I KNOW but it was so pretty I couldn’t resist) // Topshop Fur Collar Pleated Skirt Coat – $190
I’ve been online browsing a ton lately and have just started to put some fun outfits together for you to find some inspiration. For today, I’ve made two different looks with one common neutral bag (I’m obsessed with Lauren’s Tory Burch 797 Satchel). I love the idea of pairing a monochrome jewel tone look (navy + navy) with different textures and some awesome jewel tone heels. Your accessories will really pop with this one. As for the ladylike look I tend to favor, I’m loving the colored coats of this season paired with a simple and girly dress. Adding some booties in will only add to your cuteness.
Fresh and Fun: Parker Sequin Silk Blazer – $330 // LaMer Collection Friendship Bracelet Watch – $110 // Equipment Silk Blouse – $208 (or try this more budget friendly option) // JCrew Minnie Pant – $90 // Tory Burch Everly Snake Print Pump – $450 (i die for these shoes but try these green gems if you don’t have gazillion dollars)
Ladylike Chic: Kate Spade Suzette Coat – $700 (or try this red coat for less) // Pleated Ponte Knit Dress – $160 // BaubleBar Silver Ridge Chains Necklace – $28 // Sigerson Morrison Lamar Booties – $325
