Shopbop 25% off

8 Apr

by Lauren

Shopbop is having 25% off today with the code SPRING25.  Happy day!

Here are a few things I am eyeing …

RAG & BONE

I bought these a few weeks ago and I’ve already worn them three times.  The weight of the fabric is perfect (read: not cheap, not sheer) and the painted print makes these a stand-out pair of pants (without being too crazy).

Heidi Klein

I’m a big fan of the one piece bathing suit … and this fun ikat print is beautiful and vibrant.

Cool change

I love this jumpsuit – its so easy breezy and looks like it would be great as a beach cover up or for casual cocktails outdoors.

Theory

This dress is so chic, casual and comfortable, who wouldn’t want to throw this on and run out the door?  Check out these other options from Clu

SUNDRESS

Heading to the Caribbean?  I suggest packing this fun number.

Spring Jeans

4 Mar

by Lauren

So we’re still expecting snow… and all I want is spring… in protest, I have begun whipping out my “spring jeans” and wearing them with boots and other winter pairings.  I dont care.  Below are a few of my favorites for now AND later.

Rag & Bone

I am absolutely obsessed with these and WILL be purchasing these.  They would work nicely with a chunky knit – black, white, cream – before the warm weather hits and then with your favorite t shirt or blouse in a few weeks.

Hudson

This is my absolute favorite color – why not have a pair of jeans in this hue?   A little pastel next to a snowy ground never hurt anyone.  In fact I think these are awesome for immediate wear.

J. Brand

In case you’re in need of a new pair of white jeans — I always default to these tried and trusted J. Brands.  The rise is just right and the material is not transparent (easily the most pervasive offensive  of light jeans). I’ve been wearing my white jeans with my suede booties and a big sweater recently.  Perfect excuse to jump start the spring shopping.

A few (new) beauty must-haves!

25 Feb

by Lauren

Within the last few weeks I have stumbled upon a few products I can’t believe I lived without… here they are:

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am pretttyyyy serious about my mascara endorsements.  Up until yesterday, it had been Armani’s original Eyes to Kill, and while I definitely still love that product… I have to say, this Benefit They’re Real mascara is probably the best I’ve ever seen for feathery lashes.  I borrowed a friend’s yesterday and holy moly… you guys, this is serious stuff.  I don’t know what to say other than get your hands on this immediately!

Armani Liquid Summer

I bought this as part of my purchases after getting my makeup done last month and I figured it would be one of those worthless expenditures I end up throwing to the bottom of my drawer.  WRONG. Mix this with your foundation for sun-kissed, dewey skin – it is an incredible product.  Everyone who has tried mine has bought it immediately.

Armani Eye Tint

Whitney and I both walked out of our last make up counter run with the Armani eye tint – this is a fabulous product and the perfect finishing touch to your eye makeup routine.  It’s not great for everyday because it is quite dramatic – but on the weekend, this gives your eyelids a little of that oomph they need – it really lights up and is so easy to apply.  Think of it like a paintbrush for your lids!

Givenchy Very Irresistible

I am NOT one to take on new scents – it’s rare that I do…but I smelled this on a friend and couldn’t get enough.  She actually mixes a few drops with her body lotion — it creates the perfect clean, feminine fragrance.  I am definitely giving this a whirl.  It is also a great way to maximize space while traveling – fragrance and lotion in one!

Winter Cocktail

3 Feb

By Lauren

I’m not sure about you all, but my winter is filling up with special occasions – weddings, fundraisers, vacations to escape this nasty weather… and with that comes the daunting task of looking good and staying comfortable (read: warm).  I have a few events that I need to dress for – ranging from casual to cocktail to black tie… and here are some of the looks I am eyeing.

Rachel Zoe

Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good jumpsuit.  A black jumpsuit has been a staple in my closet for years and I don’t think it ever hurts to add to the collection.  This one is versatile and will take me into the spring and fall… it can also be dressed up or down.

Cynthia Rowley

I love sleeves on dresses, and in this case, they add a practical element and help keep you a little bit warmer.

Elizabeth & James

Sexy and chic – if you’re been abiding by your New Year’s resolutions, this little number will flatter a well kept figure.

Maje

I like the heavy texture on this – the poofy skirt balances the look by making it playful and feminine.

Halston Heritage

A pop of orange stands out in a sea of winter picks.  I think this color rocks!

J. Brand

This is so Audrey Hepburn meets 2015 – a perfectly demure LBD.  I love the tight top and feminine skirt.  Oh, look, it comes in red, too:

(shopper’s note: this fabric is “denim” which may not be dressy enough for some occasions –  you would need to try it in person to make sure).

Cold Weather Wear

12 Jan

by Lauren

If you’re like me, extreme winter temperatures and weather will always be a shock to the system.  I HATE being cold.  I think it’s miserable, and I really don’t care how ridiculous I look avoiding the discomfort of freezing to death.

Boots:

NMF15_X27R3

Uggs

I think these are pretty stylish and I actually ordered them for my snowy commute to work.  In hindsight, I’m realizing that they may not be the most practical boots on earth.  Whups.

Totally Toasty Ear Warmer

lululemon

I think this “ear warmer” is so cute (and practical).  Though my dad would say you lose XX% of your body heat through your head and would advise something that covers the TOP of your head, such as this one:

Barca Slouchy Hat

J. Crew

Every lady needs a pair of leather gloves.

Jonathan Adler

Personally, I think its important to have a casual pair of gloves as well.

J. Crew

My favorite part of the ensemble – the scarf pulls everything together.  I love this “snood” from J. Crew and it is 40% off right now!

Jonesin’ for Jewels

22 Dec

by Lauren

After a very long hiatus from dang-ly earrings, I am back on the bandwagon.  Since minimalism and understated pairings have been in for so long, statement earrings are making a comeback.  Obviously we have all been lusting after Dannijo’s vibrant jewels for some time now, but her glitzy earrings are really talking to me right now.  A few of my favorites…

Simon Crystal Chandelier Earrings by Dannijo

The silver and blue hues in these would match basically everything in my closet and add a much needed dash of color this winter.

Dorothy Drop Earrings by Dannijo

A good drop earring elongates the face and after this holiday season, I’ll probably be needing help in that area.

Button Earrings by Dannijo

If you’re not feeling my flow, a bold pair of studs will always been en vogue – for you blue eyed babes, this pair will really make your eyes pop.

Cerise Earrings by Juliet and Company

These are just cool, I dont know what else to say – and you really can’t beat the bargain price of $44.

Shay Ear Crawlers

Ear “crawlers” can sound and look creepy, but this pair by Shay knocks it out of the park.  I think these would look smashing with an otherwise traditional outfit – they add a fun edge for a creative or hip cocktail party look.

T is for Thibaut Tanzania

24 Nov

by Lauren

At the front of my living room is a square shaped dining “nook” with large bay windows.  Since I have an open floor plan it is important to distinguish the dining nook as its own space, separate and apart from the living room… in its present state, it has no “pop” at the front of the room and is essentially wasted.  To give it the pop, I have been thinking about using a fun wallpaper — I am pretty sure I want the space to be beige and white… enter the Thibaut Tanzania wallpaper!  I think it has just the punch I need and since the color palette is neutral, the other accents I have in my living room won’t clash with it.  Check out these images…

This is totally necessary.

Drop everything you are doing and order this product right now.  Since August, I have been using this Make Up Forever shimmer block and it has totally changed my life.  I don’t know what it is, but it makes your skin look completely flawless – the right amount of bright, the right amount of coverage.  It’s quick and it’s easy.  I have practically stopped using any other face make up since getting this!  I will say that the little brush that they market with it is a great tool and I suggest getting that too.  If you can only opt for one – do the block and use your regular face brush.  I have to add that the 3 friends I have who have tried this product ordered it on their phones immediately.  You will not regret this decision!  (In fact, I ordered it immediately after trying my friend’s!  I have the “light tan” color).

Shopbop F&F – 25% Off

13 Oct

by Lauren

It’s our favorite time of year!! Shopbop Friends & Family starts today – enjoy 25% off with the code FAMILY25!  Usually I get totally overwhelmed by this exciting news and balk and don’t order anything I end up keeping or I just freeze altogether and can’t make decisions.  This year, I am prepared.  Here are a few of the things I have been eyeing:

DKNY Cape Dress

If you have room for a little extra drama in your life, buy this.

Sneakers, Cotu

It is impossibly hard to find casual, comfortable shoes for the winter – so a fresh pair of sneakers is high on my list for running errands and commuting to work.

Vince lace overlay blouse

Whenever I can find a pretty, long-sleeved, yet versatile top – I jump on it.  This one has just the right amount of detail to make it fun for a night out.

Susanna Monaco Shift Dress

There is something so simplistically elegant about this – I think this dress would prove to be quite versatile as the seasons change.  It is great for date night, a work event – and will look cute with tights when the weather changes.  (Also available in this spicy blue version).

Mara Hoffman beaded dress

I think this dress is quite chic.  I also think it would look awesome with a thin, tight turtleneck layered underneath.

BCBG Peplum Skirt

How great is this for a work to happy hour transition?  I would probably order this one size up to make it office appropriate.

Similarly speaking, I LOVE this Elizabeth and James Pencil Skirt

(wear it with a plain blouse (option 2) or a fitted turtleneck)

Equipment Aubrey Dress

There is only one left!  And I suspect it will be gone momentarily, but I may have to comb the internet for this little minx.  (Found it!)

Jonathan Adler Tic, Tac, Toe

Because who doesn’t love a friendly game?

By the way, F&F is a great time to stock up on basics — if you don’t have the following, I suggest you seriously consider giving them a try!

1. Theory Sartorial Blouse (perfect for work & play)
2.  Vince Turtleneck (great for layering)
3. Paul & Joe Sister Sweater (chunky knits are always a great idea)
4.  Loeffler Randall Tamsin Pumps (work place must)
5.  Milly sweater dress  (a perennial favorite)
6.  Anything Equipment

Theory Picks

29 Sep

By Lauren

As I have started to get older (le sigh), I’ve noticed myself gravitating toward classic pieces season after season.  This is partly because I think that is what older people do and partly because I am spending all of my money on home furnishings… I can’t really get too invested in trendy clothes.  Last weekend when I was visiting Whitney in NYC (YAY!) I popped into the Theory store – a great go-to for a classic refresh in the fall.  There were so many great things!  My FAVORITE is this poncho I picked up… I got it in gray, but I think I need it in every single color.  (In the first week, I wore it three times – it is just so easy breezy!!  Isn’t this camel color to die for?)

FLORENCIA

The poncho looks incredible with these leather paneled leggings for a night out.  (No joke these are the most flattering leggings to date).

AZRAY

And as always, the theory coats are spectacular…This Naomo jacket looks biker when its unzipped and impeccably polished when its closed up, lending extra versatility to a fall look.
