Sprucing Up My Necklace Collection

8 Jul

By Whitney

I’m in the mood to buy a new necklace.  I’m trying to be good and not spend a lot for the rest of this summer so when I’m in the mood to buy something, a piece of moderately priced jewelry is the way to go.  Here are some of my favorite necklaces these days…Ugh. So tempting.  I have  so many solid dresses and tops that need  a little something to jazz it up.  Nothing works better than a statement necklace!

Splurge vs. Steal – Garland Necklace

This isn’t the greatest example of lusting for less however, I did recently return this garland necklace to JCrew after seeing the BaubleBar version.  Let me explain why.  I really wanted a necklace to wear on top of a buttoned up collared shirt.  I wanted the bling part to show off at the bottom of the collar to add some sparkle.  I love the JCrew version of these perfect garlands but what I love about the BaubleBar piece is the adjustable length for different types of tops and dresses (and the fact that it’s 1/3 the price).  It will poke out enough to give me the bling I’ve been wanting and it won’t choke me on top of that (this is an issue with layering sometimes, am I wrong?).

The Olympic Games start today in one of my favorite cities and I’m getting pretty excited to watch some gymnastics and swimming (and don’t get me started on how fascinating synchronized diving is to me).  Obviously we are all rooting for Team USA but today’s Lucky Deal of the Day can help display your patriotism!

Maya Brenner’s USA necklace comes in sterling silver and 14 karat gold and is a delicate way to show your pride.   Head over to mayabrenner.com and choose your metal and if you’d like the diamond accent and get 50% off  with code “luckydaily5”. Let’s go RED, WHITE AND BLUE!!

Spicing up an LBD

I am working in Atlanta these days and it is disgusting and muggy here.  I really don’t know how girls live here and not have incredibly bad hair.  I should start asking.  Anyway, it’s hot and muggy so sleeveless dresses are my go-to’s here but I always try to spice them up.  This was made easy due to the amazing birthday gift from my even more amazing boyfriend.  Roarke NYC makes a gorgeous cowl necklace they call the Le Charlot and I am so excited to have one!  It really jazzes up this adorable Kate Spade LBD and makes me feel extra special (for many reasons).   I love it!!!!

Kate Spade Francie Dress – $358 (look for this on the Kate Spade online sample sales that they have but if you happen to be a size 6 or 10 it’s on sale for $140 here)

Making a Statement

I am currently working for an incredibly chic lady who has an amazing sense of style and I envy her wardrobe everyday.  It’s quite refreshing to talk d’orsay peep toes and monochromatic trends while grabbing coffee between meetings.  Today she is wearing a fantastic accessory that I thought I recognized from my very well publicized BaubleBar obsession.  This Bib Necklace is a great neutral and so easily pairs with tons of different colors.  The price point is pretty much amazing and you are most definitely getting your money’s worth.  It is just perfect for the statement piece trend that’s happening right now.  Love!!!

I’m on a jewelry kick as of late (can you tell???).  Mainly because color is everywhere and I find it an easy way to bring trends into my basic everyday black/white/navy wardrobe.  White is included in this bright color trend and I am loving it with necklaces and bracelets for spring.  You can pair any of these pieces with basically every color so it’s versatile and chic.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Henri Bendel Deluxe Girlfriend Beaded Wrap Bracelet in Rose Gold – $118 (in stores only)

Baublebar Glam Neige Collar – $38

Bottom Row:

Kate Spade Bauble Box Double Row Bib Necklace – $278

Baublebar white block ring – $72

Timex Originals Easy Reader – $70

Kara Ross Python Link Bracelet – $395
