It’s been a crazy busy week so I asked my mom to guest blog a bit on her (obsession) the Nordstrom Sale. Every year she takes this sale very seriously and I asked her to show me some of her favorites since she is pretty much a SME on this sale (subject matter expert Consultant speak). Thanks, Babs! xoxoxo
This post is for the more “mature ” readers of Pretty Polished (read – our mother’s friends). Most of these brands are favorites of mine that I look forward to buying in the Anniversary Sale every year.
Autumn Cashmere Leopard Print Sweater – $200 (The cardigan is a must have for my fellow Floridians, since the entire state is over air conditioned) // Autumn Cashmere Open Knit Cardigan -$200 (I love all things leopard) // Simon Sebbag Hammered Bangle – $90 ( Simon Sebbag makes great hammered jewelry, love his earrings too) // Wildfox La Femme Sunglasses – $119 (The sunglasses are like the Tom Fords I presaled, but are now out of stock) // Halogen Leather and Ponte Shift Dress – $198 (The leather dress just looks “cool” and might actually fit) // Zella ‘Aria’ Distressed Jacket – $79 (I love all Zella jackets) // Hue Ultra Wide Waistband Leggings – $24 (The Hue leggings are comfortable and cheap) // Tom’s Metallic Snake Leather Slip On – $55 (These Tom’s are just cool) // NYDJ Leann Stretch Jeans – $87 ($130 after the sale) – not pictured but look nice and actually fit our “mature” bodies.
Two of my favorite companies have come together and created a collection and I’m obsessed. BaubleBar has created another collection for a retailer and I”m so glad they chose Nordstrom! I love how the pieces are under $70 and I’m loving all of the fun spring colors. Get yourself a statement necklace or just some fun bright studs to dress up your work wardrobe. A few of the pieces have sold out but for now, my favorites are below.
Clockwise from top left: Multistrand Star Pendant – $28 // Embellished collar necklace in mint – $46 // Stone Earrings (come in tons of colors) – $24 // Phillips Skinny Cuff (gold or silver) – $28 // Pave Multistrand Necklace (I love this in white or mint) – $68 // Peacock Fan Earrings (pretty fun bold colors) – $28 // Pave Link Bracelet (shown here in turquoise and hot pink but comes in a bunch of fun spring colors) – $48 // Frontal necklace in white – $48
As cheesy as it is, I will always be a huge Sex And The City fan so when SJP decided to embark upon a shoe line, I was quite excited to see what she came up with. Sarah Jessica Parker’s “SJP” line (exclusivelyhere at Nordstroms) debuted last Friday and is a solid collection of summer shoes in sweet colors. Below are my three favorites but go check it out and let us know what you think!
Bobbie Sandal – $365
Diana Pump – $365
Ina Pump – $355
Leather is in. If you splurged in Fall of 2012 for this, you are doing great for this season. I recently came across this Rachel Zoe top and thought how great it would be to pair with skinny cropped pants in the breezy early Fall or how versatile it can be when paired with a black mini skirt and tights come winter? I love the color and the boxy shape. On my search for a much more affordable replacement, I came across this Halogen top that is actually a prettier green (IMO) and I liked how the bottom was accentuated with the elastic. Let’s hurry it up, Fall!
Splurge: Rachel Zoe Janette Leather Blouse – $525
Steal: Halogen Leather Front Elastic Waist Top – $168
I am not a booties person. I find them to be unflattering to my legs (they are stumpy) and I wish I could pull them off but I just can’t. I am quite jealous of girls in NYC (and my very cool friend Annie) wearing their Rag & Bone Newbury Booties and then I saw the R&B Harrow. I DIE. These booties are amazing. First off, they’re lower and cut at an angle so they are more flattering to your calves. Second, the detail of the straps are just awesome. These are SO CUTE and if you are a booties person, I feel like you would wear these allllll the time. These are a fall must. However, I am on a budget so $500 booties are not going to be acquired in 2013 by me (or by you, KAM). Sole Society is at it again with a substitute pair that are just as cute and I’m loving. For under $100, these are the definition of a steal.
Splurge: Rag & Bone Harrow Booties in clay (but also love in camel) – $495
Steal: Sole Society Skylar Booties – $90
Happy Nordstrom Anniversary Sale everyone!!! This sale always reminds me of middle school when my mom used to go and get me a sick pair of new doc martin boots and I was so into them. My, how things have changed. My three favorites are below but the Vince sweaters are always a great find during this sale as well (I’m just too hot to feature them right now). Definitely take advantage of this great sale.
Hinge Quilted Leather Jacket (also love this) – $230 (was $328)
Kate Spade Hancock Ginnie Bag – $158 (was $238)
See by Chloe Skimmer Flats (these are PERFECT) – $160 (was $260)
Another request day today, I received an ask from a favorite colleague of mine for some pointy-toe flats that are under $150. Lots of different options out there right now. You’ve got some plainer classics or some studs to jazz up your outfit. I also love perforated leather so those Mias are pretty darn cute. Hopefully mission accomplished!!
Top Row: Miz Mooz Jolyn – $100 (definitely one of my favorites on this list; loving the cobalt snake but also the black are perfect basics) //C-Label Hudson 10 – $40 // Joe’s Kitty (tons of great colors but also try here if not in your size) – $35 (were $70) // Kate Spade Gabriella – $167 (were $278 so I think these are allowed past the budget…plus they’re perfect for work)
Bottom Row: Vince Camuto Tamma – $100 (Love these in black and white!) // Messeca Jacqueline – $70 // JCrew Factory Emery – $74 //Mia Nomad – $50 (also comes in other great fun colors and a great beige)
A few months ago, I saw this great spring outfit in the Nordstroms catalog. I loved it and have been stalking the pieces ever since. Right now all of it is on sale (and all three pieces come in great colors besides the green) so this outfit is a grand total of $122. If you have to choose just one piece, this skirt is such high quality and the boucle texture is a lot more quality than the $46 price tag. Stay tuned for some more great finds for great prices from Nordstroms!
Halogen Color Block Cardigan – $30 // Sleeveless Shirt – $46 // Textured Pencil Skirt – $46
I. Love. Gingham. I think it’s adorable, preppy and just plain perfect. This week’s splurge vs. steal is focused on a fun cute printed piece for spring (to perk myself up on this snowy NYC morning). I fell in love with this Red Valentino dress but sadly, I cannot afford it for $625. However, I can afford the Taylor dress on the right and I’d pair with a white belt to play up the navy color. So so cute!!
Splurge: Red Valentino Sleeveless Gingham Dress – $625 // Steal: Taylor Dresses Fit & Flare Dress – $128
The Equipment Sloane Polka Dot sweater is possibly my favorite sweater of this winter. I just love it. What I don’t love is it’s price tag. Max & Mia has a great version of the sweater in fun colors too and I swear the cashmere is soft and not crappy. And it’s like 25% of the price. Your choice.
Splurge: Equipment Sloane Dot Cashmere Sweater – $348 // Steal: Max and Mia Big Dot Cashmere Sweater – $56 (thank you to my mother for noticing that it went on sale from $79!)
