Dress Request

10 Jun

by Lauren

We received a request from a certain international friend who is going to be attending several international weddings.  She needs a dress with some structure, a nipped waist, and with enough coverage for this type of auspicious setting.  While I have not been shopping for dresses at all recently, a quick search of shopbop (since she’s international shopbop is the most friendly for shipping arrangements), yielded a few great options.

DVF New Della

DVF New Della

I love the color & cut of this dress – and just as the model did, it would be great with a punchy necklace.  Plus the sash gives an ultra flattering silhouette.

A&O Tali Dress

Orange is the new black this season and since her weddings are in how climates, the cut outs on the back of this dress provide a little more breathing room while you are tearing it up on the dance floor.

Dolce Vita

Dolce Vita

This dress is super sweet & I love the tiny peek of the lower back.

Whitney and I are obsessed with this brand – she has this dress and I think its the most fab summer wedding dress – it’s also not nearly this short (I am gonna guess that this model is 7.5 feet tall). {Note: Nicholas is listed in AU sizes – a small is a 10}

Rebecca Minkoff Clara Dress

I absolutely love this dress and almost bought it in the tweed version (before realizing I have no occasion for it).  Had the store had this version in my size I would have gone for this version.  The pale gray and pink hues look so pretty in person & the cut on the dress is ultra flattering.

Milly Chevron

While this dress does have some white on it – the bold pattern mixed with the gray still makes it completely appropriate for a summer wedding.  I LOVE this dress.

Ballerina Pink

19 Mar

Ballerina PinkAll of us can’t help but reminisce when we see ballerina pink to the days of leotards, tights and tutus.  This color has now become one of my absolute favorites and I love the idea of it as a spring neutral for 2013.  Pairing it with a charcoal gray, black or even a green or blue would look perfect.  I can’t wait for this crappy weather to turn around!

JCrew Cafe Capri in Dusty Bouquet – $70 //Rebecca Minkoff Lissa Stud Pouch – $95 // Baublebar Rose Otto Strand – $28 // Madewell Something Else Laser Star Skirt – $108 (also love the idea of the tank paired with black cropped skinnies and pumps) // Madewell Mackenzie Shirred Dress (my favorite in this post) – $158 (or on sale here with certain sizes) // Scalloped iphone case – $28 // Polished Plane Earrings – $32 //  Marie Turner Lunch Clutch – $220 // JCrew Contessa Snakeskin Bow Pump (so classic and feminine) – $228 // Zoya Nailpolish in Stephanie – $8 // Essie Nailpolish in ballet slipper (obviously) – $8 // Topshop Mine Gem Stud Pointed Shoes – $64

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Finds

30 Jul

By Whitney

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale has begun and a few things have caught my eye.  I am shopping-rexic for July and August but  that doesn’t mean I can’t look.

1.  Look out for a Fall trend – LEATHER!  Leather is huge and there are two items Nordstrom featured that are sleek, classic and everything a leather piece should be if you’re going to spend the money on one.

Our favorite jacket but in leather.  PERFECT for fall!

Rebecca Minkoff Becky Leather Jacket – $529 (was $798)

This shift dress is cute and chic at the same time.  The mod look is dressed up with the amazing rich color.

Vince Leather Shift Dress – $598 (was 895)

2.  DVF – Our favorite designer has come out with two great pieces for the Nordstrom sale:  A cocktail dress that Lauren and I both own in blue (and can happily attest to how much use we get out of it) as well as yet another version of their perfect pointe knit pencil skirt.

DVF Reara Colorblock Dress – $239 (was $365)

Diane Von Furstenberg Camisha Pointe Knit Skirt – $139 (was $210)

3.  Other great finds – a classic hobo purse and some pretty hoop earrings are always fun additions to your closets.

Pour La Victoire Lauren Hobo – $263 (was $395)

Kate Spade Stone Hoop Earrings – $46 (was $68)

Other favorites include this awesome Trina Turk wrap coat and our favorite Clarisonic.  Enjoy the sale!

The perfect clutch to take to a wedding. Structured and easily held in one hand with a glass of champagne in the other.

This clutch made it to my birthday list. I am seriously obsessed.

Rebecca Minkoff Buckled Clutch in Peach – $295

Things we love – cobalt blue blazers

10 Jan

By Whitney

This is my favorite blazer of all time.  Yes, it’s a big statement and I’m making it.

We have featured this Rebecca Minkoff blazer twice before, the original cobalt blue amazingness back in August on tumblr and a second version of the jacket in rose gold sequin (which is now on sale from $598 to $416 if you have the casheesh).  I’m partial to the cobalt blue as I love the combo of cobalt and black and on my browsing I found some great substitutions since this one has been sold out for months.  All of these are a great basic to add to your collections for ALL seasons.  Pair them with a LBD and heels for going out at night or perhaps just skinnies and a tank top for a more relaxed day at the bar.

Bop Basics Draped Jacket – $248

This is basically Shopbop’s version of the Becky. It’s awesome and half the price.

Helene Berman Edge to Edge Blazer – $218

Button free and flowy.  Pair with a tucked in t shirt with black skinnies and a pop of color for a belt.  Pink perhaps?

Tinley Road Bleeker Blazer – $79

The button nips you in at the waste or leave unbuttoned for a more casual look.

Aqua Bright Girlfriend Blazer – $88

I have this in a periwinkle blue and wear it nonstop.  Just comfy and a great basic.

Rebecca Minkoff Becky Jacket – $348

So you miss the Becky in cobalt THAT much?  Try this one with a black lapel combo.
