My dearest friend asked me to do a post on winter coats that are classic but don’t break the bank. I know my besties’ taste pretty well and I knew she wouldn’t want anything flashy or over the top (I threw in some faux fur but (almost) ALL OF IT IS REMOVABLE). I started my hunt by a) looking at options under $400 and b) coats that can be worn during the day but also to work to pretty conservative offices. The below are the options I picked out. Coats are pretty pricey these days so perhaps there will be a Part II of this post that shows absurdly $$$ coats that really aren’t even reasonable but we still want to dream about…
Top Row: Soia & Kyo Jana Asymmetrical Coat – $395 // JCrew Wool Melton Peacoat (I like that these lapels are a little bit wider than normal peacoats) – $325 // DKNY Faux Fur Collar Walker Coat – $215 // Zara Tailored Coat – $189
Bottom Row: JCrew Melton Military Coat (I tried this on and I’m kind of obsessed with it now) – $378 // Catherine Malindrino faux shearling coat – $155 // Ellen Tracy Kimono Sleeve Coat (I love that it has a hood!) – $270 (was $408) // Lauren Ralph Lauren Belted Stand Up Collar Coat (saving the best one for last bc I think this is my favorite suggestion on here) – $340
Last week, I had two of my dear friends request my favorite fall booties for this season. Let me just share my thoughts on booties with y’all. I wish I was 5’10 with legs for days but while I am relatively tall for a girl, my height is alllll in my torso and my legs are NOT just long and lean. I love a bootie though. The trick to flattering booties is to have a cut at the front that goes down at an ankle and doesn’t cut across your calf in a straight line (thank you Rag & Bone for getting me). If you have the legs to pull it off, go for it because it’s a great look but if you are LEG CHALLENGED like myself (no matter how many miles you run) get yo’self a pair of the below. Most of these have a chunkier heel which make them do-able for daytime play and also nighttime wear. If you have the cash, the Isabel Marant dickers are by far the coolest booties I have ever seen and our very own Lauren has these and is obsessed. I own the Club Monaco pair below and I can wear them all day long and not complain so that’s a plus. Get involved, people.
Top Row: Club Monaco Brooklyn -$398 // Joie Ajax (I love the slouch factor on these with leggings / skinnies and they come in great colors) – $295 // Vince Camuto Hillsy (comes in a few colors) – $160 // Rag & Bone Harrow (5 sick colors) – $525
Bottom Row: Rag & Bone Margot (my personal favorite) – $525 // Paul & Green Delgado – $389 // Splendid Addie – $178 // H by Hudson Kiver – $198
It’s a request week here at PP. First up? A colleague of mine asked for some suggestions on pretty scarves to dress up her weekend wear. This blanket wrap scarf trend isn’t going anywhere and I am actually loving the options more this season than last. Some favorites here below!
Top Row: Zara Black and White Checked – $26 // // Shiraleah Langley Scarf – $28 // Lands End Oversized Scarf – $34 // BP Autumn Plaid Scarf – $26
Bottom Row: Look by M Plaid Scarf – $45 // Apt 9 Fringe Plaid scarf (I love this one and this pretty color palette too) – $24 // Zara Doublle Sided Check Scarf (it’s awesome when laid out) – $30 // Forever 21 Frayed Plaid Scarf (love it in both colors and it’s $13 so a no brainer) – $13
Fall is a comin’! Lots of cute stuff out there right now, accessories included. I can’t even imagine walking around in that Rebecca Taylor coat and the multiple ways you could rock that suede skirt are endless. Also, that JCrew field jacket in oxblood? You’ll wear it every day in October.

This fall is full of neutrals – except this time it’s not just black and tan but amazing blush tones and rich metallics that are making the cut. September is always a tough time for shopping; you’re not quite ready for fall yet because it’s technically still summer so clothes never seem THAT cute to you. I always think it’s a good thing because mental note what you want and once we are all in cold weather mode, buy it when it goes on sale! Oh and WHOOPSIES if you got this to your emails yesterday!
Clockwise from top left: Sam Edelman Belinda Boot – $175 // Krewe LGD Sunglasses – $235 // Tory Burch Anorak with Plaid Lining – $595 // JCrew Cable Crewneck Sweater (love the texture on this that comes in great fall colors) – $98 // Chloe Lauren Flats (my FAVORITE flats in an awesome fall metallic hue) – $475 // Splendid Chambray Shirtdress – $185 // JCrew Easy Short in Marble (I love how this print can pair well with a black silk top to go out or a chambray top during the day) – $50 // Joie Kulani Top (such a gorge white top to wear ALL year long) – $228 // Rag & Bone Dunaway Hat (inspired by my ever chic friend Anne who was rocking a hat the last time I saw her and I was envious of how cool she is) – $198 // Santi Beaded Minaudiere (this gorge line of clutches is already noted on my holiday gifts for my mom) -$195 // JCrew Cari Cami in Watercolor Floral – $98
A few weeks ago, a girl getting her nails done next to me was wearing the sickest flats I’ve ever seen. We chatted and she told me about these Aquazzura flats shown below. It would be awesome to spend $700 on flats but I looked around to find some other cool options and found some winners!!
Top Row: Aquazurra Christy Flats – $675 // Loeffler Randall Saffron Wrap Sandals – $250 // Madewell Nora Flat – $85
Bottom Row: Anthropologie Billy Lace Up Flats – $178 // Rock & Republic Lace Up Flats – $25 (were $55) // Isabel Marant Leo Flat – $650
I sound like a broken record but every year around this time I struggle. It’s warm but not hot, it’s cold sometimes and then it’s not. Layers are obviously key. However, what to buy during this season is even tougher. You have weddings to go to, kids birthday parties to attend, beaches to visit (and beach bodies to work on)…I mean LIFE IS TOUGH. So when my lust lists are even more random than usual, let’s blame the April/May transition.
Clockwise from top left: Jimmy Choo Ivette Sandals (drool) – $775 // Alicia Bell Tie Tunic Dress (we have found the perfect cover up, people) – $198 // Roarke Dove Gray Scarf Necklace – $395 // Carrie Cami in Tropical Frond – $98 // Kate Spade Clam Shell Clutch – $298 // Cece by Cynthia Steffe Eyelet Shirt Dress – $158 // Tropicana Madison Zip Pouch – $55 //JCrew Teardrop Stone Necklace – $102 // Topshop Crocheted Dress (LWD season here we come) – $130 // Henri Bendel Victoria Sunglasses – $125 // Krass & Ko Striped Shorts (are these not the cutest running shorts??) – $45 // BaubleBar Beaded Strands (in coral and in so many great colors) – $36
Spring means a lot of things. Warmer weather to push me to run more, spray tans commencing and my Equinox membership getting it’s real value. Another favorite? Lilly dresses. I am loving the 60’s Lilly theme this season ( that crop top combo might be purchased for my sissy’s bachelorette) and there are so many cute prints this year!
Vanna Crop Top Set (it’s TOO CUTE) – $198 // Alexa High Collar Shift (I own this and am obsessed) -$198 // Breakers Lace Top Shift Dress – $298 // Ember Shift Dress (I love this coral print!) – $198 // Rosie Square Neck Shift (the applique is so pretty) – $198
Ugh. This Tibi skirt. I dream of it. It’s so perfect and would look so gorgeous with a matching neutral top or a black sweater or anything. J’adore. What I don’t love is the $550 price tag so when I saw this version of the skirt at JCrew I knew it was a must!!! I showed it in pink because it’s the easiest color to see the cool texture but it also comes in a crisp white. These skirts require heels in order to really pull them off but they are the perfect spring addition.
Splurge: Tibi Ribbon Bow Skirt – $550
Steal: JCrew Laser Cut Midi Skirt – $128
I did some returning this weekend (no purchasing!) and was in JCrew and saw some great spring arrivals. About time, JCrew (even Mickey had to admit they had a pretty crappy year in women’s – I literally did not buy one thing from them since last spring). Anyway, spring is here so let’s get our closets ready!
Clockwise from top left: 7 For All Mankind Freesia Jeans – $198 // Hydrangea Needlepoint Loafers or the Crab version (NEED) – $212 // JCrew Perforated A Line Dress (this is so cute in person) – $148 // JCrew Carrie Cami (the perfect go-to top in lots of colors but I love this pink) – $118 // Mara Hoffman Weekend Bag – $286 // Tibi Ribbon Fit Coupe Full Skirt (so so gorge) – $550 // Henri Bendel Debutante Convertible Clutch – $208 (was $298) //Aerin Fleur Pump – $298 // Sandro Riviera Dress (oh hello perfect spring wedding guest dress) – $465 // JCrew Short Sleeve Sweater (this is super cute in person and comes in lots of summer pastels) – $102
