Milly For Kohl’s Launch Party!

23 Apr

By Whitney

Sometimes we have a weekday evening that is just way better than others.  Last night I attended the Milly for Kohl’s launch party at the Mondrian Soho (amazing venue!) and it was so much more fun than finishing my work on my couch for the night.  The new line is inspired by “la dolce vita” and the pieces are summer chic.  The line features some really fun pieces.  This crop top + skirt  white combo, matching Milly for you and your munchkinette and this perfect striped tee.  My favorite item in the collection?  This black & white dress with LEMON accents.  So cute!

I loved seeing the celebs modeling the fun pieces (and Michelle Smith the designer herself!).  Could Hannah Davis be any more gorgeous?  It’s like she glows from the inside.Milly event 2

Dress Request

10 Jun

by Lauren

We received a request from a certain international friend who is going to be attending several international weddings.  She needs a dress with some structure, a nipped waist, and with enough coverage for this type of auspicious setting.  While I have not been shopping for dresses at all recently, a quick search of shopbop (since she’s international shopbop is the most friendly for shipping arrangements), yielded a few great options.

DVF New Della

DVF New Della

I love the color & cut of this dress – and just as the model did, it would be great with a punchy necklace.  Plus the sash gives an ultra flattering silhouette.

A&O

A&O Tali Dress

Orange is the new black this season and since her weddings are in how climates, the cut outs on the back of this dress provide a little more breathing room while you are tearing it up on the dance floor.

Dolce Vita

Dolce Vita

This dress is super sweet & I love the tiny peek of the lower back.

Nicholas

Nicholas

Whitney and I are obsessed with this brand – she has this dress and I think its the most fab summer wedding dress – it’s also not nearly this short (I am gonna guess that this model is 7.5 feet tall). {Note: Nicholas is listed in AU sizes – a small is a 10}

Clara

Rebecca Minkoff Clara Dress

I absolutely love this dress and almost bought it in the tweed version (before realizing I have no occasion for it).  Had the store had this version in my size I would have gone for this version.  The pale gray and pink hues look so pretty in person & the cut on the dress is ultra flattering.

Milly Chevron

While this dress does have some white on it – the bold pattern mixed with the gray still makes it completely appropriate for a summer wedding.  I LOVE this dress.

Work to Weekend – JCrew Swoop Top

Work to Weekend - JCrew Top

By Whitney

I saw this JCrew Swoop Top (with the adorable slightly cut out back) and I thought how easily it could pair with a cute daytime outfit for a Saturday but also be a great work top.  Mixing colors is one of my favorite things to do and this could easily work with a popsicle day outfit.  For this work to weekend, I wanted to feature a shorts-suit for the office.  While this wouldn’t fly where I work, it definitely could be worn in a cool place that allows jeans or something fun like that.  I love the idea of the black blazer with the Milly elephant shorts (which are long enough to be appropriate) and a pop of color with the top.

JCrew Swoop Top – $88 (was $110)

Work:  Topshop Placket Detail Jacket – $95 // BaubleBar Blanc Vessel Collar – $28 // Alice & Olivia Hilarie d’Orsay Flat – $240 //Linea Pelle Maya Hip Belt – $115 //  Banana Republic Milly Elephant Print Shorts – $55 // Sam Edelman Reagan Pump – $85

Weekend:  Alice & Olivia Jo High Waisted Skirt – $156 (was $258) // Loren Hope Corrin bracelet – $65 // Tory Burch Emmy Wedge Sandal – $175 (was $250) //Blue Marquis Studs – $18 // Ciela Bangle – $120 // Jack Rogers Georgica Jelly Flat – $68 (maybe these ones won’t kill your feet)

Milly + Banana Republic = Fun.

By Whitney

Yesterday Banana Republic launched their much talked about collaboration with Milly for summer.  While I definitely don’t love everything, there are some that were pretty cute when I checked it out yesterday.  My three favorite pieces are below but it’s definitely one that is cuter in person than online!!

Milly Striped F&F Dress

Striped Fit & Flare Dress – $140 (this is SO much cuter in person!!)

elephant shorts

Elephant Print Shorts – $55 (I love the idea of pairing these with heels since they’re long enough to not make you look like a hooker)

Medallion Blouse

Medallion Roll Print Roll-Sleeve Top – $90

Some sales going on of note for you to enjoy the weekend with!  Cusp has a great sale going on (loving this summery Paul and Joe Sister top and this girly Marc by Marc Jacobs dress) and Stila currently has 20% off of all full priced items (I rarely go a day without their liquid liner) with code “20OFF”.  My mom also forwarded me a great MZ Wallace first call sale – Thanks Babs!!

Milly Sale Picks

28 Jan

By Lauren and Whitney

Last night, Lauren and I were having a typical texting conversation in which we bounced between would you rather Jake Gyllenhaal vs. Bradley Cooper, Lauren’s love of the movie Taken, Philip Lim pants, Taylor Swift’s “enhancement” debate and amazing Milly pieces that are currently on sale.  Here is what we sent to each other.  Let’s just say there was a lot of “love” and “you should def get that”.

The Mesh Trend – Classy Version

22 Jan

By Whitney

I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing long weekend!  I am sure Lauren will have much to report for us on the inauguration excitement from DC this week but for now, I spent the weekend online browsing and getting super tempted to break my new “saving” mentality.  (*a note to my parents, I didn’t.)  Inspired by the first two Milly pieces below, I’ve started to get into mesh accents on certain items.  There’s a lot of mesh gone wrong out there right now – Britney Spears loves those cheesy skin tight mesh dresses and these one piece bathing suits need to be stopped immediately.  However, there is a way to do this mesh trend right and the below items are a few of the chic-er pieces I’ve found.  It’s a nice sheer alternative to lace and I think it’s pretty cute.

Tie Some Ribbon On

23 Oct

By Whitney

I’m back from my amazing European vacation and I decided to welcome myself back with a girly collage.  I love bows.  I’m currently wearing a subtle one on a Kate Spade dress today but don’t put it past me to bust out a giant patent leather one to entertain me at my boring workplace.  I’m loving the Tory Burch flats with the sparkly bows to brighten up your holiday outfits (my sister has these and I’m jealous).  Or try the JCrew bow wool coat for something simple and chic.

Red Valentino Bow Clutch – $350 // Tory Burch Eddie Ballet Flat With Bow – $250 // JCrew Bow Socks – $13 // Asos Bow Tie and Pleat Top – $53 // Kenneth Jay Lane Bow Earrings – $45 // Milly Intarsia Wool Dress – $350 // Asos Metal Chain Bow Belt – $14 in silver; $26 in gold (I own this with an elephant on it and it’s stretchy and adorable) // “Best Present” Tights – $15 // Bow Tech Gloves – $28 // Red Valentino Drop Waist Bow Dress – $600 // JCrew Wool Bow Coat – $395 //  Topshop Bow Croc Flats – $56
