Affordable Bling – Moon and Lola

9 Feb

By Whitney

Affordable jewelry is always a great thing to buy when you are on a budget (ME).  Moon and Lola is a great brand known for their fun monograms but they’ve been branching out into some non-personalized items and I am loving them.   They are easy, pair well with lots of stuff and don’t break the bank.  A+ combination.

Moon & Lola

Jonesin’ for Jewels

22 Dec

by Lauren

After a very long hiatus from dang-ly earrings, I am back on the bandwagon.  Since minimalism and understated pairings have been in for so long, statement earrings are making a comeback.  Obviously we have all been lusting after Dannijo’s vibrant jewels for some time now, but her glitzy earrings are really talking to me right now.  A few of my favorites…

Simon Crystal Chandelier Earrings by Dannijo

The silver and blue hues in these would match basically everything in my closet and add a much needed dash of color this winter.

Dorothy Drop Earrings by Dannijo

A good drop earring elongates the face and after this holiday season, I’ll probably be needing help in that area.

Button Earrings by Dannijo

If you’re not feeling my flow, a bold pair of studs will always been en vogue – for you blue eyed babes, this pair will really make your eyes pop.

Cerise Earrings by Juliet and Company

These are just cool, I dont know what else to say – and you really can’t beat the bargain price of $44.

Shay Ear Crawlers

Ear “crawlers” can sound and look creepy, but this pair by Shay knocks it out of the park.  I think these would look smashing with an otherwise traditional outfit – they add a fun edge for a creative or hip cocktail party look.

Splurge vs. Steal – Ear Cuff Request

28 Aug

By Whitney

A while back my friend Lindsay and I had a convo about ear cuffs.  Another reader requested the same convo so I felt it was due for a post.  Ear cuffs are definitely a statement accessory and while I’m always supportive of a statement, these are definitely not for the faint of heart.  They’re growing on me though and I was asked to find a cuff that isn’t going to break the bank.  Obviously my first stop was Baublebar and I found this great ear cuff for $32.  I mean what a great way to try a trend and keep your spending in check.  Dannijo (the queen sisters of cool) of course have a gorgeous version of this trend and I’m loving that too.  Ugh so many ear cuffs, so little time.

Splurge:  Dannijo Gwendolyn Ear Cuff – $220

Steal:  Baublebar Winged Crystal Ear Cuff – $32

Delicate Jewelry

25 Aug

I love a statement necklace and bold earrings but when it comes to my everyday jewelry, I tend to lean towards delicate light pieces.  They don’t draw too much attention but they still complete an outfit.  Plus, I find I wear them year after year and they are worth the investment.   A few of my favorites from the current fall jewelry lines are here!

Sprucing Up My Necklace Collection

8 Jul

By Whitney

I’m in the mood to buy a new necklace.  I’m trying to be good and not spend a lot for the rest of this summer so when I’m in the mood to buy something, a piece of moderately priced jewelry is the way to go.  Here are some of my favorite necklaces these days…Ugh. So tempting.  I have  so many solid dresses and tops that need  a little something to jazz it up.  Nothing works better than a statement necklace!

Classic Jewelry Staples

27 Mar

By Whitney

We all have our basic staples that we go to every morning when we are headed out for the day.  When it comes to jewelry, I always struggle in the bracelet arena because I can rarely find pieces that are subtle enough to wear with corporate apparel and then I can never find one that actually fits.  My mom’s dear friend Ferne gave me a present the other day and I am obsessed.  She made me this gorgeous gold beaded bracelet with tiny pearl accents and it’s custom measured to my annoyingly small wrists.  I love it already!  It is the perfect piece for me to wear everywhere and I am so thankful!  If you are interested in one, feel free to email us at Prettypolishedblog@gmail.com and we’ll put you in touch.

Spotlight on JCrew Jewels

By Whitney

Every few months or so, JCrew really steps it up with it’s jewelry collection.  This month is no exception.  I am loving a few sparkly pieces and some are the kinds of statement pieces that you are constantly looking down at throughout your day and being like, “Oh heeeey I have a sparkly sparrow on my wrist and it’s so pretty”.  Go buy yourself some sparkle, ladies.
