Splurge vs. Steal: Lace Up Flats

21 Sep

By Whitney

Aquazurra shoes are everywhere right now and for a very good reason.  I spotted these flats out on Saturday night in cobalt blue and I had to say, I was jealous.  I can’t  imagine the piece in the back to be so comfortable but it’s a great fall trend.  Enter Topshop’s version of the lace up flat.  Save yourself a few pennies (and blister bandaids) and pair with your skinnies to step your outfit up a notch.

Tie One On

A few weeks ago, a girl getting her nails done next to me was wearing the sickest flats I’ve ever seen.  We chatted and she told me about these Aquazzura flats shown below.  It would be awesome to spend $700 on flats but I looked around to find some other cool options and found some winners!!

Top Row:  Aquazurra Christy Flats – $675 // Loeffler Randall Saffron Wrap Sandals – $250 // Madewell Nora Flat – $85

A Black and Tan Request

22 Sep

By Whitney

My bff is preggers and in need of flats for her aching feet (and probably the cocktail today’s post title implies!).  The request came for flats in both black and tan.  If you  can afford it, there is nothing like a pair of Lanvin flats.  But the hefty price tag is hard to justify so I came up with a few other options.  Some can really dress up a pair of jeans, others are for running around the city to work (worth every penny in my opinion).  Besides the below, a tried and true pair that come in black or tan patent every season are Vince Camutos (and they are under $80 so wear and tear them all you like).

Flats - Black and Tan

Tan:  Me Too Lilyana Flat – $54// Sam Edelman Felicia Flat (these come in a ton of colors) – $90 //  Anniel Bow Flats (my favorite on this page and in black suede here for $125) – $175 // Sole Society Tanya Flats – $55 // Loeffler Randall Milla Flats – $250

Black:  Loeffler Randall Karlotta Flat – $250  // Club Monaco Erika Bow Flat – $230  // Tieks in matte black (everyone loves these) – $175 // Belle by Sigerson Morrison Vanessa Flats – $195 // Repetto Patent Flats (the perfect flats) – $270

Fall Flats

4 Aug

By Whitney

It was a crazy week last week so I’m so sorry for putting PP on the back burner.  We are back this week everyone and oh, are we ready.    It’s crazy that it’s 90 degrees out and fall is already starting but there are some things to focus on to take you between seasons, a good flat being one of them.  My fav part about spring and fall are being able to wear skinnies with flats and not be freezing/sweating.  You can never have too many pairs of flats (as long as they are unique!).

Fall Flats

Top Row:  Loeffler Randall Gray Karlotta Flat (love the black accents) – $250 // Chloe Scalloped Flat in navy suede (thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for getting me these flats as they really are the most comfortable / gorgeous flats in the world – $495 // See by Chloe Studded Leather Flat (also love it in gray) – $180

Bottom Row:  JCrew Factory Emery Flat in Navy (love this navy) – $78 // Mint & Rose Amalfi Espadrille in rose gold (perfect for an Indian summer) – $125 // JCrew Harper Scalloped Flat (THIS PINK but also the cobalt) – $128

Splurge vs. Steal – Sparkly Flats

25 Nov

To continue last week’s love of sparkle, I’m bringing back a pair of flats I featured in a lust list not so long ago.  I saw these Tory Burch Chelsea flats glittering away at Bloomies and I fell in love.  I love that they come in a neutral or a black and how they can be your dressy flats for the holiday season.  Having a pair of sparkly flats is a great idea because they can easily take you to a holiday party and be in line with the dress code.  Sometimes my feet just need a break!  If you aren’t in the mood to spend too much on this, Zara came out with a great alternative and I saw them in person and feel they are 100% a substitute for the almost $300 version.  They too come in nude and black so go check them out for <25% of the price!

Monday Lust List

I’m loving jewel tones this week, especially navy and that deep cerulean blue that just pops.  I love pairing these greens/aquas/blues with nudes/golds/pinks because it really makes them pop.  Get me those Tory Burch studded flats – they’d look so perfect with jeans or black/navy pants.  I love bringing jewel tones into the home through the agate coasters that look pretty gorgeous.  A baby pink sweater with a ruffle at the bottom?  ADORABLE.

The Commuter Ballet

19 Sep

By Whitney

I have a few rules on my daily commute:  1) In the summer, I do not sit on the subway in a dress  2) The shoes I commute in must be comfortable and cannot be expensive.   My fancy flats are for dinners, bars, anywhere EXCEPT the city streets and the subway.  I can’t feel guilty if I get trapped in a rain storm or step in something disgusting.  It is a tough life being a city girl, PEOPLE.  I am in dire need of a new pair of commuter ballet flats so here are some of the ones I’m looking at.  All of which are under $100.

Commuter Ballets

Top Row:  Sole Society Kathie (the smoke taupe is my favorite) – $60 // Yosi Samra Croc Embossed Ballet Flat – $70 // Sole Society Tanya (this navy is so pretty!) – $60

Bottom Row:  Vince Camuto Ellen Flat – $79 // Me Too Halle – $45 (on sale!) // Loeffler Randall Grier Flat – $200 (Okay these are not <$100 but they are really pretty and when Loeffler flats are comfy, they really are the most amazing shoes ever).

Splurge vs. Steal – Studded Flats

2 Aug

By Whitney

I was discussing with my one of my favorite colleagues (and also an awesome blogger with just the best taste) about how much we love the Valentino studded flats.  I just love them.  They are so cool and gorgeous at the same time but I do not (and will not for a very long time) have $700 to spend on flats.  I’ve been looking at a lot of cute affordable shoes from Sole Society and came across these.  While they aren’t Valentino, these Martine flats definitely could satisfy my desire for a dressier flat with those rockstar studs.  Love!!!

Pointy Toe Flats

Pointy Toe FlatsBy Whitney

Another request day today, I received an ask from a favorite colleague of mine for some pointy-toe flats that are under $150.   Lots of different options out there right now.  You’ve got some plainer classics or some studs to jazz up your outfit.  I also love perforated leather so those Mias are pretty darn cute.  Hopefully mission accomplished!!

Top Row:  Miz Mooz Jolyn – $100 (definitely one of my favorites on this list; loving the cobalt snake but also the black are perfect basics) //C-Label Hudson 10 – $40 // Joe’s Kitty (tons of great colors but also try here if not in your size) – $35 (were $70) // Kate Spade Gabriella – $167 (were $278 so I think these are allowed past the budget…plus they’re perfect for work)

Bottom Row:  Vince Camuto Tamma – $100 (Love these in black and white!) // Messeca Jacqueline – $70 // JCrew Factory Emery – $74 //Mia Nomad – $50 (also comes in other great fun colors and a great beige)

Perforated Leather Accessories

Perforated Leather

By Whitney

I’ve spotted quite a few leather perforated pieces this spring that are absolutely awesome but really are just way too pricey (case in point this amazing Milly leather jacket and or this awesome sporty DKNY white dress).  I think it’s a great trend though so why not bring that into your accessories?  Handbags and shoes are a great way to incorporate this and I’m loving how the fun spring colors work with the intricate details.  I’d love to get my hands on those Dolce Vita Razia flats in every color.  So perfect for summer!

Clockwise from Top Left:  Rag & Bone Newbury Booties – $550 (coolest booties ever) // Milly Addison Facile Patent Clutch (also comes in black and white) – $275 // Matt Bernson Mulberry Ballet Flats – $170 // Coach Legacy Penny Leather Crossbody Bag – $258 // Vic Italy Flat Heel Perforated Booties (the holes on these booties are STARS)- $329  // Dolce Vita Razia Perforated Flats – $130 // Old Navy Perforated Ballet Flats (tons of colors) – $25 // Urban Expressions Perforated Clutch (also in black or pink) – $38
